If you're wanting to stick with as close to stock as possible, my vote is this:

[ROM] Official INC OTA 4.06.605.3 - xda-developers

Contains the build.prop edits so you don't pretend to have an EVO.

Are people pretty much in agreement that this is the best flashable ROM of the latest OTA? Do I need to rename it 'update.zip' to flash it? I know I made a whole thing about waiting, but not if the Update has bugs in it.

It would be pretty interesting to see a poll showing who has received the update and what section of the country they're in. Still nothing here in Idaho :( ...

With the problems I keep reading about the OTA from VZW for some reason I'm not looking forward to it as much as I once was....LOL. It's like waiting for that once special Christmas present...opening it and realizing it's broken.

That Rom is for root users. The guy who was asking my opinion is rooted and was talking about flashing a Rom with clockwork.

I'm in South FL and still no update. I think that system update button is a joke, the sec you hit it, it doesn't even think immediately says "Your system is up to date". I mean really, at least give it a few secds to actually check for an update. LOL What a useless function, yet I keep pressing it. :D

I have a rooted Incredible (using unrevoked3). I do NOT have a custom ROM installed.

So, if I want to keep root, and possibly install a custom ROM in the future, I should NOT accept the OTA?

Will the OTA continue to be pushed out to me indefinitely, or will it eventually stop?

Is there a chance that the XDA Devs might NOT be able to root this OTA, if I choose to install it?

Do you have the 'new market'? If so press 'Apps' and then on the next screen scroll down. Under 'Editor's Choice' I have a 'Sprint' tile. Tap that one and you see Sprint apps, like 'Sprint VRS', 'Sprint Mobile IP', etc. Pretty funny.

Took me a while to find the Sprint stuff too, saw people talking about it on XDA.

Todd

I hate the layout of the new marketplace, I also could not understand where you were seeing Sprint...I just used your instructions and didn't even know Verizon is listed under APPS>Then Editors Choice>Then you see Verizon. It's a weird layout.

...still waiting for my GBread...

Did you just Root or did you do the S-OFF procedure on the urEVOked Forever page?

public:forever [RootWiki]

If you have done unrEVOked forever then you should be OK to install the OTA, be careful to follow their instructions on how to do it (reinstall a stock recovery), OTA, reinstall Clockwork, install SU.

I haven't done the last part yet (getting root back), but folks on XDA, and I think this forum, have. I'll do it eventually.

I'm in Jupiter, Florida and I got mine this morning around 7am...

But, don't get to excited.... With the SD Card issue (MOVE ALL YOU APPS FROM THE SD CARD TO THE PHONE BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE)... The location notification popping up everytime you hard boot and the software thinking it a Sprint Evo when it goes to the App Market.... You might be better off not uploading it and waiting until a update to this update is around!

FUDGE!!!

My phone was sitting on my desk... All of a sudden my keys lit up! I thought when I unlocked it, that it might show the update icon.......and nothing. =*(

i installed 2.2 through recovery when it was leaked...non rooted, fully stock. will i get the OTA for 2.3?

I did the same thing. I am having trouble with an unrooted DInc going through HBOOT with the official OTA I got from that link earlier in the thread.

Finding update package
Opening update package
Installing update
assert failed: check_cid(getprop("ro.cid"), "00000000","11111111", "22222222","33333333","44444444","55555555","66666666","77777777","88888888","99999999","VZW_001") == "t"
Error in sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

I get something very similar to this but all those numbers in the quotes are random letter/number combos.

I cannot figure this out.

I have an unrooted DInc and am using the official OTA file link.

i didn't even try to manually install the 2.3 one. did they get a file together? haven't seen it. i hope i can just get it OTA so i don't have to worry about messing something up.

What are you calling the official file link? And did you check the md5 of the file?

I just started a new thread clearly stating problem and solution for those users that are search-limited. :)

I don't know if it is an option for most to move the apps, as some might not have enough space internally for all their apps. Also, some apps force themselves to be on the SD, users may not even realized they have SD apps! I think copying from the old to new location is a better message, as most people won't know what happened until they hit the problem, and then will go looking for solutions :D --just my $.02

Went ahead and made that a sticky, hopefully that is the fix for most that are having this problem

Don't think it actually matters where in country you are actually. I will though try to get rid of current poll and put us a new one up:)

Amen bro, lol! Me too.

Well, they found the download site for the official OTA.

What are you calling the official file link? And did you check the md5 of the file?

The link from here OTA Gingerbread! - Android Forums

Yes, I checked and confirmed the Md5 of the file to match what is says in that link.

Disable fastboot mode if you want hboot. Or do a battery pull.

How do you disable fastboot mode on Froyo?

The location notification popping up everytime you hard boot and the software thinking it a Sprint Evo when it goes to the App Market.... This is actually good advise. I've been thinking once I see the update to let it sit there a while, if Verizon makes me wait this long, I'll just make them wait before installing. Lol I know it makes no sense but it makes me feel better. Ha

Seriously, I'm still stock and no plans to root but all these problems make me nervous since my Froyo is working great.

Well I got tired of waiting for verizon to push the OTA to me so I just finally flashed the ROM over at XDA. After reading about the issues with the OTA anyway and knowing the XDA guys already fixed them, I just figured it was a better bet. I have to say honesty though this update wasn't worth all the hype to me. I will probably go back to flashing other ROMS just to play around more.

I do have one question though if anybody knows the answer, I am back to the old Market. Does anybody know why?
