Does anyone wanna volunteer to call and ask around? I know you probably won't get much info but it's worth a try. Right? I've got some free time, but not until friday.

Got the OTA update last week.
Installed without a hitch.
Starting three days ago, I am having sudden, random reboots of the phone.
Prior to the OTA, I had not had an uncommanded reboot in months.
Any one else having this issue?
It must be rolling out on a one-wheeled skateboard.

yeah I was having the same issues with reboots.after using some of my apps the phone would reboot. Yesterday I cleared all caches and pulled the battery, no reboots since. (Yet)
for those frustrated about not yet getting the ota update, i'll share the flip side of the coin. i woke up the morning of 9/9 with the update waiting on my phone. i happily allowed it to download while showering and getting ready for work, and looked forward to playing with it intermittently as my time allowed during the day to see what enhancements i would notice. i should point out that i was not one of those anxiously awaiting the update to 2.3 assuming it would change my life, but i was hopeful for a slight improvement in battery life and some solution to the dreaded low on space issue.
it has now been five days and i have yet to see any noticeable enhancement to my phone in any matter at all. i wish that were the end of the story, but alas it is not. since "upgrading" to gingerbread, my battery life has significantly degraded, i get the low on space error way more frequently than i did before, the missing apps problem has plagued me every time i have powered down, and i am finding the user experience to be more buggy than ever before. i am not a power user like many others in this community, i am not rooted and do not completely understand what it means to "flash a rom" or what an "RUU" is, but i know for a fact that i understand and use my phone on a much more advanced level than the average user on the street. the fact is, my experience with my DI has gotten worse since the "upgrade". and say what you will, i dont believe i should have to be a graduate of MIT or carnegie mellon, or have a career in IT to be able to use my phone as it was intended.
i am not here to whine or complain, but simply to share my experience with those of you feeling cheated about not yet receiving the update. if i had my choice at this point, i would gladly go back to froyo and live with that until a new phone came out that caught my attention. rant over.
Not the Rom, the direct download from the update server.

I'm in the same position of stock 2.2 rooted and CWM.
Sorry if this seems a little too pedantic, but to flash the stock recovery, did you rename the stock recovery from dougpiston.com to PB31IMG on the SDCARD, go into HBOOT, and then accept the update? After that I'm assuming you had no issues with the OTA? I'm not planning on re-rooting right away, because my phone may have some issues that might require service. Thanks!

Just tried this a few times with no luck. It kept aborting the installation; something about wrong signatures maybe.
Just to clarify, I have ClockworkMod Recovery on my phone, which is trying to install the update with no luck.

Is this flashable like a rom or possible to do being rooted without losing backups?
Very curious myself to this question. I'm in the same boat; stock Inc that is used for work.So carylev post above sounds honest.
I'm not sure if this has been answered but what happens if you refuse the update and your happy with Froyo 2.2, will Verizon force the update onto your phone or can you continued to just use 2.2
I'm one of the people that I really love my incredible and 2.2 is really fine for me, I'm not rooted and still virgin. I just don't want any of the problems spelled out by carleyv above. I'd rather keep my 2.2 but is that possible?
I'm right there with you. I had to do a factory reset today, and am still having issues. Not sure what to do next.
