Such a pain. it again said i had the update. did nothing. except now i have to resign into all my apps.

You could try factory resetting but that's even more of a pain. Might make the final update push through next time though. Sorry you're having so much trouble. I wish I could take these phones for you guys and deal with it instead. I actually like this stuff.

I just might reset it. I wish I could give it to you to handle lol

Whats the best way to back up things. I am all stock, I have never had to do a factory reset since never had issues. Still dont I guess just figured it might be good to do anyway. Not sure I want to though set everything back up.

While I got the latest update, and it installed without a problem, there's a couple posts on Verizon's support forum that says that HTC pulled the 4.08 update. Not that I believe everything I read on there, but just a point of info... may be why people who have elected not to install right away, can't get it now?

Well...you can try mybackup pro (paid app). I don't have any experience with it but it will supposedly restore apps. Otherwise just make SURE all your contacts are set up as "Google" contacts. Then they'll sync back automatically later. There are some SMS backup apps if you're interested in restoring your texts. You can also make a list of your apps with Appbrain so you know what to retrieve in the market afterward. You'll lose your app settings though so it's no quick task to get all back up to snuff. Hopefully you save all your pics to SD. Otherwise they can be moved from internal to SD if need be.

I saw that to what a joke honestly. This is what turns folks away from Android updates always seem to be an issue unless you have a pure google device. Or maybe its just HTC devices who knows, THe EVO had major issues, the incredible, the thunderbolt.

The Galaxy nexus is looking better & Better just to not deal with silly updates. I should have rooted before the last silly update like I was going too.

I had 4.08 ask to install last night and then after it started the install, the phone booted and said there was insufficient memory (which is simply not true). Since then, no more update to install. Any thoughts on how to get it back?

Just adding my voice to chorus to say that the same thing happened to me: Update notification warning, downloaded, phone rebooted, got the insufficient space for install message...it also told me to delete such apps as Yahoo, gmail, and AOL....I only have gmail. Fun stuff.

Got the 4.06.605.3 update yesterday and only problem was the apps on SD card disappearing, but got that fixed.

Got the 4.08.605.2 this morning and having the same issue many are--it reboots and says there's not enough space. And I just flushed my entire contacts storage and re-imported it last week! Did not have the "low disk space" warning when I attempted to install this so I'm surprised this still happened.

Anyone successfully get over the "low space" issue? I don't want to run around deleting apps willy-nilly if it's not doing any good.

Wow, sorry to read so many are having problems with the low memory on this 2nd update. I don't know the answer but I remember being on this forum back when Froyo came to our phones and I was one of the ones that had to do a full factory reset on my phone. It was a real pain but in the long run I was glad I did it because it fixed everything.

Re: Battery life after gingerbread, we may have to give our phones some time to settle into gingerbread before we see any real differences with battery life. I remember that was the case w/ Froyo came in. For me I'm seeing that my battery life is either about the same or slightly better w/ g'bread.

Hey Guys,

I woke up this morning to a message from Verizon that my Droid Incredible was ready for an update! Horray! I started the update and got a message that there was not enough available space, and to clear some out and restart. A stupid idiosyncrasy of the incredible considering that I have whole gigabytes of hard drive and SD card space, but whatever I'll deal. I clear out my facebook and mail stored memory, and then go to restart the update.

I go

SETTINGS->ABOUT PHONE->SYSTEM UPDATES->

and apparently the phone is up to date.
Now I know that ain't true.

Any idea what's going on here.
Any help is much appreciated.

I had the same issue, update yesterday successful, received another notification this morning.. tried it and got the not enough space warning.

I've even tried the date switch trick to get it to update again... it'll prompt me but when I tell it to update it just counts down and does nothing.

Anyone had any luck with this?

Ditto here......

"no space" error on second update.

How do we get it to update now? Just wait? or is there a way to force it to update.

I also got the low space error. I deleted some stuff but the update wouldn't re-push. So I downloaded it from the link trying to manually update it. To get into the recovery from the red triangle you have to push the up volume key and the power button from my experience. The update didn't work going through recovery until I formatted my SD card with fat 32 then just moved the update.zip (not update.zipzip) by itself to the SD card. Once I was in HBOOT it detected it automatically and updated without a problem. It did sit at the eye for at least 8 minutes though which I heard is normal.

I was prompted for this update on Monday night and I was pretty excited. I put it off a couple of times so that I could get a good charge and be in my house's wifi range.

So when I was ready, I went for it. I downloaded an installed, but it seemed really fast. So I checked in the system info and it said I was still on 2.2 and nothing had changed. I checked for an update again and again, to no avail. I was pretty pissed.

So I rooted, flashed CM7 and now am happy, much happier than I would have been with the OTA.

*moved to the Droid Incredible forum*

If it works similar to Google OTA updates, they will roll around back to your device in a couple of days and you'll get the notice again.

Just another user here adding their voice to say they had the same problem.

Got the update notification, accepted, phone restarted, update downloaded (I presume) but quickly went back to the regular home screen with the message that I'm low on space (despite having over 500mb free).

Cleared some caches and app data (I notice Amazon MP3 uses a lot of space, for example) and was expecting the update to be re-pushed when I checked, but no joy.

I'm due for an upgrade in February I think, and the DI has been a great, reliable device for the past 18+ months except for this Gingerbread update, so it could be time to move on.

I just got prompted for a "second" update. And it "must" be over 519mb because I can't install it.

No way it is that big.....

Everyone try clearing your cache and see if that helps, also App2SD has a cache cleaner built in... if you want to free more space clear data on some apps maybe??
