Gingerbread release for Droid phones

Yep. So? Verizon has said the update is released and being pushed out. Granted, it obviously hasn't happened..

I think the D2 will see Gingerbread eventually. It is competing against the DX, OD, D2G and possibly the DPro for attention from the techs. Plus with the impending release of a Droid 3, it wouldn't make much business sense to give D2 users one less reason to hold off on upgrading since Gingerbread could breathe new life into D2's all over the network.

I still stand by my comments which kinda sorta breaks my heart. I saw Amazon had the atrix4G for 1-cent, and 100-off the dock ... almost pulled the trigger on it. I have been toying with the idea of getting a NookColor and doing the bluetooth keyboard hack...but a Phone with laptop dock would essentially accomplish the same. Who know ... maybe the D2 or eventually the D3 will be web-top enabled.

I'm on the phone right now with tier 2 vzw tech support for an issue with my droid2 (not global), and she asked if I had received the "software update" yet. I obviously said no, and asked if she meant an operating system upgrade. She corrected herself, and said, "that's right, it isn't out for the Droid 2 yet, but it should be very shortly." And she really stressed the word "very". I was on the phone with her for another 10 minutes, and just hung up, but before we ended the call, she actually brought up the software update again.

Pretty interesting. Hopefully she wasn't being confused with the D2G.
