go check your local at&t store

I first stopped at AT&T store. No demo unit out, so I asked one of the CSRs about the device. He said they didn't get any demo units or shipment yet. I said OK that sucks and while I was walking away he mentioned how nice the phone is...They received training today and had only 1 unit in the back.

I walked next door to Best Buy. The CSR in the Mobile department did not know when they will be getting the At&t Samsung Captivate... I got a lot of "the what?" The Captivate At&t new Android phone. "I have not heard about that phone. You mean the Galaxy S." Yes, its a Galaxy S device. "I don't know when we are getting it but I just got a dummy unit."

I tried the two corp stores in Pines (Mall & West Pines) and nada...

Not even a glimpse, though both did say they had stock...

Well, today is the day. I'll stalk my store early to see if anyone else is getting there at opening. But hey, there probably won't be since everyone seems to already have it.
 
I have yet to see any place that had AT&T advertising the $349 off contract price. That was all speculation and hearsay.

speculation:no, hearsay:yes (legally)

AT&T used it's social media outlets and live chat to promote the $349 off contract price. They also confirmed it many times. They also sold it at that price to several early buyers.

Still, there's likely nothing that will come of it.
 
At Walmart it is FREE w contract which also includes a free car charger, no activation fee and $229.99 w/o contract (no car charger). I just ordered mine and it will be here in 2 days. I called all the Walmarts near me but their cell phone dept. was not opened yet. I wonder how much it is at the store.
 
Placed my order too. $229.99+18.95 fedex overnight, no contract. However the site asked for my last 4 and current wireless number even though i selected no contract. I grabbed screen shots showing no contract etc. to help me fight if it shows with contract.
 
I'm ordering one from the Walmart website right now, and then I'll go pick one up from the At&T store as well. I figure the Walmart order will probably be canceled but who knows. If the one from Walmart ships I will either return the AT&T bought one or have a back up.

I went directly to letstalk.com (so I didn't get the free charger, but one less layer of company to deal with) and I get this on my order status:

Same here. I tried calling but it says the office is closed, but according to their hours, it should be open.
 
I just called. Selected option '2', place order to get somebody to talk to. Gave my order number and got transferred to the 'offices are closed message'.

I called back and got a nicer sales guy. Talked to him a bit and he confirmed the price, then he stated that with outright phones they sometimes just want to confirm addresses and card numbers as there is a lot of fraud with the no-contract phones. I am paying with my business card but shipping to home address so I think that may be what the issue is.

Tried it, got a lady telling me it's just to verify address also. She told me to call back first thing in the morning to get it shipped out asap. /crosses fingers
