I'm going to try this strategy on my way home from work.
It's sorta in the north side of DFW.
It's on the highway 75.
From garland = 30 minutes away.
Downtown dallas = 40ishh depends where you are from
Frickin' tell me about it. I may unsubscribe from this thread just b/c I feel like I get kicked in the nuts every time someone says they got theirs early
Same here. It really boils down to a fairness issue for the people who live close to the early sellers. They have the 18th circled on their calendar. What happens when they walk in on Sunday and there is no stock?
At least the ones by me are sticking to the 18th but now I have to spend Friday and Saturday confirming that while checking the other 7 stores to see if they are selling it early. Like I said, just sadistic!!
I'm going to try this maybe tomorrow to the store that sounded like they have it but wouldn't sell it. I'm going to look for the who's eager to sell something...
I must have called 20 stores in the ATL area and I either got anwhere from, none in stock yet, got a demo unit only, wait till the 19th, wait till the 18th, sounds like they have some but 18th... Texas may have the warehouses, but ATL is the headquarter of ATT for god's sake.

I'm not sure if that's a valid statement since a lot of stores that I called in my around DFW doesn't have the stocks yet. I'm just lucky after calling around 7 stores and got one said they have 15 stocks.

I just got home with my new Captivate!
I live in the Ft. Worth Texas area and picked one up at a corporate ATT store. The sales woman I first spoke with gave me attitude about it going on sale the 18th so I stated that I knew they had them there and that I just wanted to see the demo model. She disappeared and about 10 minutes later the manager came from the back room and handed the demo unit to me. We both played with it for about 20 minutes. He admitted being an iPhone fan but he was practically drooling over the Captivate.
"So, what do you think?" he asked.
"Well, I think I'm in love. Too bad it doesn't go on sale until Sunday."
"I tell you what. Go sign into the waiting list and by the time one of us gets to you I will have it boxed up and ready to go for you."
"Let's do it."
And that's all it took for me to get it today! This store is located on 35N / Western Center in Ft. Worth. He also told me that the warehouse is in the DFW area and that everyone probably has them but has yet to open the boxes.

I cannot confirm this as I am at work and cannot go to the store yet- but I was told from a friend that the lady she spoke to on the phone said to call back around 5 and they 'may' have some in stock. My guess is she is probably checking with the manager. It's the store on Cobb Parkway. If you call before I get the chance to- let me know what they say!
Anyone in the Detroit metro area that got theirs? Or just Michigan in general? (southeast Michigan or near the Toledo area)

I've been out of contract for a while now and have also been due for an upgrade for about a year. The non-contract price is $350. Contract is $200. With me though I got an extra $50 discount on top of the twoyear contract price because I was waaaay out of contract that it was some sort of sign-up bonus. How much did i have to pay in the end?
