go check your local at&t store

Well went to the store that i knew had them in stock and gave it an attempt. I got as far as holding the demo but the second I said ok I'll take one, the guy basically took the demo and said sorry can't until the 18th. If anyone sells them before street they they would get fired, blah blah blah. I was just like whatever and walked out. That was my only attempt, i'll just wait now.
 
I got mine from a Corp store, and the rep had said they just got an email saying they were allowed to start selling them that day, but not display them. they had told me they didnt have a demo unit though. so i am guessing some stores got the go ahead to sell where others may not have. why i dont know, maybe to see if they would need to ship more if the demand was high, but i doubt it
 
Got one! I'm typing this on my Captivate now! My local store said they too got an email saying they could sell them as soon as they got them. And they just got them today. BTW not really liking the Samsung keyboard.

I cannot confirm this as I am at work and cannot go to the store yet- but I was told from a friend that the lady she spoke to on the phone said to call back around 5 and they 'may' have some in stock. My guess is she is probably checking with the manager. It's the store on Cobb Parkway. If you call before I get the chance to- let me know what they say!

I called that store before when calling my list of stores. I can't remember what they said, but the one near Lenox checked stock and then said they couldn't sell it until the 18th. They might have said '5' because they get shipments from noon-4
 
No luck in Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Sunrise/Sawgrass area).

I first stopped at AT&T store. No demo unit out, so I asked one of the CSRs about the device. He said they didn't get any demo units or shipment yet. I said OK that sucks and while I was walking away he mentioned how nice the phone is...They received training today and had only 1 unit in the back.

I walked next door to Best Buy. The CSR in the Mobile department did not know when they will be getting the At&t Samsung Captivate... I got a lot of "the what?" The Captivate At&t new Android phone. "I have not heard about that phone. You mean the Galaxy S." Yes, its a Galaxy S device. "I don't know when we are getting it but I just got a dummy unit."

I asked him to show it to me because I have not seen the device in person. Judging by the dummy unit the phone is nice. Thinner than I thought.

I guess its the 18th for me.

I want to hear what uncle Steve have to say tomorrow anyways. I have to get an iPhone4 for wifey in order to get the Captivate for my self, on contract - its the early upgrade on the iPhone thing.
 
I got a tiny bit of attitude when I called today just to see if they had a demo unit to play around with. Nothing till launch day; the 18th. This is by far the oddest release I've heard of to date. Not that I've been paying attention to phone releases until very recently, but they had an iphone4 out at least a week before launch. I haven't seen any advertisements online for this phone, and ATT's website still just says "coming soon".
 
So NYC people know, I looked at four stores today and none of them had anything to sell. I suspect NYC doesn't have any phones yet, besides possibly demo units. The three stores down in the financial district I checked had nothing, and the bigish AT&T store right outside Penn Station claimed to have no phones whatsoever, yet the sales people had seen it and trained with it earlier that day. That makes sense...sure...
 
I went to two stores and 1 had a demo unit and 1 said they wouldn't get it for another week!

The store that had the Demo unit was a corp store but wouldn't let me touch the unit. He said he would get in trouble to have the Demo unit out on the floor and said to come back July 18th.

I about 25 miles northwest of philadelphia. Anyone around Philadelphia having any luck????

I just went to every store that carries AT&T phones on the upper east side, none got any in stock :(
 
I got mine at the store in Highland Village/Flower Mound TX today around noon for $149.99 :D
I'm coming from an iPhone 3G and I'm continuing to be amazed with this device! I feel so free!!
 
lol i tried calling best buy a few minutes ago and they said they had it... i jumped in the car and imediately drove there... but they presented me not a captivate but a vibrant... *facepalm*
 
I actually went to a 2nd AT&T store on my way to Targete' (Target lol). The rep had to sneak me the demo they had in the back. He said he could get in trouble. Man, the Captivate is thinner than it appears in the videos I've been watching very nice. I wasn't surprised though when he said to come back on the 18th though.

I also picked up an iPhone 4 demo. It had a crack on the front in the corner lol and was crashing all over the place.
 
You'd think they would atleast put the demos out now. Get the people who know nothing about this phone into the mix. Generate a little buzz before release.


Oh wat... iPhone4. Totally unamused.

I'm actually okay with them not getting the hype going on the phone- let me get mine on the 18th, then start the hype.. Just saying :D
 
Where I live the two Best Buys in town did not have any in stock yet (or at least thats what they told me), one ATT store said come back on the 18th, and the other ATT store told me they could sell me one after their store meeting the morning of the 17th. They open at 9 am on Saturday. Guess who is getting my money!:D
 
Woot! I got one too. Thanks to rrrrrramos. I went to the store in highland village/flower mound asked for it and bam. Here we are, this is my first android device. Coming from iphone, so far im loving it.

The phones are definitely in NYC stores hands. About 6 of the ones i called in Long Island and 2 in queens confirmed they had it but stuck with the whole can't sell till the 18th bs.

Hey, if I don't get it before the 18th from a store that sounds like they are willing to sell early, guess which store I'm going to when it is the 18th.
