Root Good bye EVO thanks for the memories!

Today marks the day that I will officially retire my evo. :( It has served me well over the past 2 years and will always be my favorite phone. I've upgraded to the Note 2 and so far it is pretty amazing! I would like to thank Mikestony OCN Rupert and the rest of you (too many to name lol) But i'd like to give a special shoutout to Mike and OCN no matter how many stupid questions i've asked on here you 2 were always there to answer them. Thanks again for your help!

Ah, yes such a good phone it is/was:)
I retired mine last December I think it was, and as anyone here will attest to, it was in a league of its own. I still have mine and I know Ocn still has his. I think that Rxpert may have his too:D This forum still kicks in high gear sometimes!
Thanks for the shoutout and all of us here are glad to help you and others!

My wife also just got the Note 2 and she loves it:) And I hope you do too:)

I still have mine activated too! I really like it, still!

Besides for the great roms, though, and the developers, of course, the folk in this forum who were always so willing to help, is what made it for me!

Enjoy your new phone! :D

OHHHHH NICE PHONE!!!!! ME IS JEALOUS!!!!!

thanx for the shout out. all i'm doing is paying it forward. i was like you initially when i first rooted my phone so i understand where you are coming from. there were many folks before me who helped hold my hand as i rooted my og evo with unrevoked. all i try to do is pass the knowledge to y'all in the hope that you will all pay it forward as i try to do every day.

good luck with the note 2. the note 2 forum is pretty good, but it will never compare to what the og evo forum was and is now. come by and say hi, if you like or i might see ya, over there sometime as well.

don't forget we have all other forums as well. i really like the Android Lounge - Android Forums and the general The Lounge - Android Forums.

good luck with note 2 and see ya'around;):)

One leaves...another arrives. I bought a used EVO to replace my trusty but dying lil' Samsung vitality. Put mikg+anthrax kernel on...and I feel like the OP with his Note. For an old phone, the EVO still has the chops. :)

Nice. Yes. You have now entered the realm of flashoholics and Evophiles and general mayhem! MikG is just the start. A "jar" of jellybeans awaits you. You may tinker with a little ice cream sandwich and Decks reloaded on the way. :D

Already tried several roms and kernels. I moved it BACK to mikg...jellybean is sluggish on this phone (to me), and with the mikg tweaks this really looks as good as it works.

Mikg 3.11 + anthrax are stable and fast...and as I use this phone in my job for gps, credit card transactions and scheduling (I drive a cab)...I played around quite a bit before settling as I need the thing to work reliably and as quickly as possible.

This phone is pretty much perfect for a cab driver. The screen is a nice size and is beautiful. I remember the GPS being spot on every time.

Which jellybean did you flash?
Also, did you try Decks Reloaded? (Gingerbread ROM based on deck's ROM)

Tried a couple jb roms, liked black bean, but again, seemed a bit sluggish. Tried decks but I prefer sense, so it was back to mikg, as I like it the best of the sense roms and in combo with the anthrax kernel, it does what I want it to do....fast.

It sounds like you have really turned the phone into a workhorse!

I really like Mik roms, myself. I keep floating back to 3.11 on this phone.

I have tried and enjoy AOSP roms, but I have had the lousiest luck with GPS on them.

A sad day indeed, the EVO is now been relegated to my PDA and will still be available for all my tinkering needs. Moved on to the S III for $50 bucks and look forward to meeting up with Mike Stony soon. Thanks to Ocn, Rxpert, MizzouBrent, Dustwun, Stony, Argedion and everyone else who has lent a hand, and there have been many. This is a great forum because of the great people in it. Thanks guys, it's been a great ride. :wavey::wavey:
