Google I/O 2015 Companion Thread

Maybe I should call in and complain and get some free google play credit :P

That happened with an episode of the Walking Dead this last season....it aired, but the next day Google hadn't put it up. I called to find out when it was going to be available and they gave me $10....whoa...

How different is this from the existing "back up app data, WiFi passwords and other settings to Google servers"?
I don't use that myself, because I prefer to manage my own backups, but it's been there (and enabled by default in my experience, from the number of times I've had to turn it off) for some years now. I guess it's allowing more space or something, but otherwise sounds fairly similar.

I think the existing "back up app data" is more "keep a record of what apps are installed so that they can be reinstalled on a new device" rather than actually backing up the applications' data.

(Also, I added a bunch of links to the OP. Let me know if anything obvious is missing.)
