I don't mean to hijack this thread or anything, but for the life of me, I still can't get Google Maps to find my location indoors. When I had my iPhone, it pulled up within a few seconds exactly where I was indoors without a problem. Anyone have any suggestions with settings I can change to make Google Maps find me?
Do you have Use Wireless Networks turned on in your GPS settings?
Twist worked fine for me also
Yes, it's turned on. Most of the time it tells me it can't find my location, but just as I opened maps again, it shows a 1700 foot accuracy. Is this how the iPhone determines location? Via wireless networks? When I turn GPS in the same section of the settings, my GPS icon in the status bar just blinks and blinks meaning it can't find a lock.
Got a reply from a Google employee:
"Hi all
Just wanted to update. It appears that rotation gestures for Galaxy S series phones require Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) or Galaxy S series phones require Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) or later and won't work on Eclair/2.1. Apologies for the lack of information on the 'Supported Devices' article - it's been updated.* updated.
Best
Tom"
How do you get into compass mode? Is there a setting I need to enable?
I can't seem to get this update to download.....I have the Aria - unrooted. In the Android market it says I already have it installed-which I do (version 4.--) Any help??

Haven't tested out the offline maps yet, but the compass mode=win. 3D, well, I don't see that much of a use for it yet
