hello

is there a way in google navigation on htc desire to set a home location?

for example when i want to go home i tap one button and it routes me to my home address

So if, say, you get mugged and have your phone and house keys stolen they can quickly get there and take the rest of your stuff while you're still in casualty?

Yes there is....

Go to a home page where you want it, hold down on the screen and go onto shortcuts. Then to directions and navigation. Type shortcut name as home, and put in your address etc and there is also a home icon somewhere there. Now, on a homescreen will be an icon which when clicked takes you home :)

...just don't call the shortcut "Home" ;)

you could always set the local police station as a home location and then be on the lookout for your car there.

or you could set your home location as the address of the regional chief inspector.

i'd like to see the thief try and break in there thinking that it was your house and they had the keys to the front door...

So your neighbours get done over instead :D

Seriously, paranoia or what? lol. I live in Nottingham and out of all of my friends, none have ever been mugged and lets be right about it, IF you were that unlucky to get mugged, the person doing it isn't exactly gonna be bright enough to figure a smart phone out and aded to that if you have a lock on it and some kind of remote delete app, don't worry about it. If you wanna stick a widget on one of your screens as a shortcut to access navigation to your house, you crack on.
Christ, you'll have a cover, screen protector, super special charger, unique Desire pocket, lined with special lint to carry the phone and.... oh you get me :D

Just add your Home address into a contact phone. either one named 'Home' or in your own contact details.
Then when choosing destination select contacts and choose your home address.

cheers for all the replies. maybe it would be safer not to have home as a shortcut incase i do lose it.

but there's no definate way to "go home" whilst within google navagation?

Doesn't my suggestion above do just that? Within Google Navigation I choose contacts>home and it takes me there.....;)

On my google navigation app. there is a nagging issue.
When you go to your list of recently found places, sometimes without notice, some of them get deleted or hidden, etc.
I dont know if there is a time frame where they fall off or if there are only so many that will fit but I naviagted to a place just yesterday and now it is no longer listed in my recenlty found places and I need it back as I fogot the address.
I thought by default that every entry you make, gets stored and stays stored unless you remove it which by the way, I have not figured out how to do that either.
So, does anyone know how I can find the info on recent places when I was just there and now cant find it?
