Count me in as another user suffering from this apparent incompatibility. My Google apps, such as Youtube, Gmail, Google maps, Google play services, etc., are all crashing frequently. I am also having the random 'com.google.app...' application closing on me.
I have found very limited and short-lived relief by uninstalling the latest version of google play services, 8.1.15, and installing an older version, however, after a time the app will auto-install the newest update and my issues will be back to full-bore malfunction.
I have a Kyocera Hydro Vibe through Virgin Mobile. I have sent emails to both Kyocera and VM hoping for something useful, only to receive the following:
From Kyocera:
Thank you for contacting Kyocera Communications Inc. This email message is in regards your previous email.
We are really sorry to read about the inconveniences that you have been experiencing with your Kyocera phone, we wish we could assist you in this matter, however, this is an issue that is best resolved by contacting to your cell phone's service provider.
This is because Virgin Mobile have an internal agreement with Kyocera in order to make them handle all their own phones, so now they are handling the warranty of all their devices.
From Virgin Mobile:
Thanks for contacting Virgin Mobile Customer Care.
We understand it must be frustrating having issues with your phone. We
will be happy to assist you.
Since this is a third party application supported by Google, we
recommend you to contact Google support in order to get further
assistance on this matter. Unfortunately, we can only assist you with
issues related to your service such as your calls, text messages or your
data access.
Your understanding in this matter is highly appreciated.
So, after all this deflecting, I'm left with the only remaining option, to contact Google support. From there, I'm expecting to hear that I must contact Kyocera. This big whole circle of deflection is going to get me nowhere, and I'll be left with a malfunctioning phone and three companies that will take no responsibility for it. I see class action lawsuit impending.
