Help Google Play Services not Working :(

No doubt. I love Android and have used the OS since the HTC G1. My work gave me an iphone 5 and it's weird having no lag or FCs, It just seems solid. The Hydro Icon is my personal phone. I do love it, it runs awesome. It's just sad to see google software running better on apple products... It doesn't make sense. I hope a fix will come around. In my searches I saw Kyocera might be upgrading the Hydro Icon to Lollipop which might fix the problem? but it's not confirmed.

I having the same problem however I am using a Samsung Note 3 with Lollipop. Google Play Store just hangs up, crashes or tells me to retry. Most of the games or apps I can still use. I also use Amazon apps and for some reason the last 5 apps 2 or will crash before they even open. All this started abt a week or so ago and nothing has changed on my phone cause I have not done much with it. I have Verizon and use my wifi at home. It is very annoying

Phoenixp3 are you aware of any other Note 3 users with same issue? If you go to inernet browser and google "google play services" the web version of play store should(for play services app) come up, then once you check reviews there should be an "options" tab , press "reviews for this device" and all Note 3 users should populate. Least you will know if its widespread or just you

I will look that up. I did a general search for the play store crashin and freezing and found you guys..lol. found a few others I have looked through. I will do a more thorough search on it tomorrow and see what comes up.

I have spent a couple days looking for help with this matter and this thread in itself has been a relief. Though I feel I may have done something more to my phone than I thought because the mentioned version of play services doesnt work for me. I still get crashes and I cant even manage to sign in to google. When I try I get to the login and once I do services crashes again and it sits are the signing in screen. Not sure if I did worse but I hold out hope that if a fix is made it will at least resolve that.

It's looking like the latest Google Play Services background app, version 8.1.15, is goofing up other devices besides the Hydro Vibe. This all seemed to start happening when Android Pay was released (which requires 8.1.15 to work).

This could become a huge problem for Google/Android, because even if you are technically aware enough of this issue and know how to manually roll back to the previous version of Google Play Services that works on your device, your device will still update to 8.1.15 whenever you restart the device, or if your device has remained on for more than 24 hours. Google Play Services is made to update itself, independently of the Google Play Store app.

As for the Samsung Note 3, I wonder if the issue, additionally, has anything to do with the fact that Samsung has its own competing app to Android Pay. 8.1.15 could be conflicting with a background service that's running to support Samsung's pay system.

Bottom line is that it's looking like Google pushed out Android Pay too soon -- onto devices that either cannot support it, or ones they didn't test 8.1.15 on fully.

Try to do a factory data reset.

Try to do a factory data reset.
I have done a couple so far as well as going through the usual with clearing cache and other steps ive come across. Trying to log in again it isnt just the play services crashing. com.google.process.gapps is also crashing when attempting to log in. Before the factory reset things wouldnt work well with play crashing less frequently but after the reset it seems even less stable now. Ive tried what I can with no success though I did find a lot of crash logs. I cant quite make out heads or tails of them. Ill include one though if someone here can.

Put them on pastebin to keep the page cleaner since these are pretty long.

Not sure what this first one is, decided to include it.

And this one is one of many crash logs.

Edit: A lot of the crash logs seem to mention other things. I can include those if its needed.

Try uninstalling all gapps updates then go into recovery clear cache partition reboot see how it goes. Also version 038 works with hydro vibe so try installing that version from apk mirror and see if its more stable.

Hello all. Having the same issues (obviously). Would it be helpful to have more crash logs or screenshots? I can provide both if it might help to get this fixed quickly.

Where do I find it to do that? I dont see it under apps>all to be able to remove the updates that way.

Count me in as another user suffering from this apparent incompatibility. My Google apps, such as Youtube, Gmail, Google maps, Google play services, etc., are all crashing frequently. I am also having the random 'com.google.app...' application closing on me.

I have found very limited and short-lived relief by uninstalling the latest version of google play services, 8.1.15, and installing an older version, however, after a time the app will auto-install the newest update and my issues will be back to full-bore malfunction.

I have a Kyocera Hydro Vibe through Virgin Mobile. I have sent emails to both Kyocera and VM hoping for something useful, only to receive the following:

From Kyocera:
Thank you for contacting Kyocera Communications Inc. This email message is in regards your previous email.
We are really sorry to read about the inconveniences that you have been experiencing with your Kyocera phone, we wish we could assist you in this matter, however, this is an issue that is best resolved by contacting to your cell phone's service provider.
This is because Virgin Mobile have an internal agreement with Kyocera in order to make them handle all their own phones, so now they are handling the warranty of all their devices.

From Virgin Mobile:
Thanks for contacting Virgin Mobile Customer Care.
We understand it must be frustrating having issues with your phone. We
will be happy to assist you.
Since this is a third party application supported by Google, we
recommend you to contact Google support in order to get further
assistance on this matter. Unfortunately, we can only assist you with
issues related to your service such as your calls, text messages or your
data access.
Your understanding in this matter is highly appreciated.

So, after all this deflecting, I'm left with the only remaining option, to contact Google support. From there, I'm expecting to hear that I must contact Kyocera. This big whole circle of deflection is going to get me nowhere, and I'll be left with a malfunctioning phone and three companies that will take no responsibility for it. I see class action lawsuit impending.

What I meant was go into apps, all and remove all updates for the offending apps, like gmail, google drive, YouTube etc. And restore them to factory settings, I would also do google play services. As soon as you remove them and restore with factory version turn the phone off, then do procedure with power button and volume to get into recovery mode. Once there clear cache partition and it will prompt you to reboot.
EDIT: once you reboot, leave 8.1.15 but keep old versions of google apps you plan to use

Tried it, right after swiping to unlock I get locational services crashes and play services crash at the same time followed by play service crashes over the next minute or so.

Edit: Location in settings isnt on either.

It also seems that hangouts crashes too and my play services is still at the factory settings despite a reboot. The version its using is 5.0.84 (1259630-038).

I'm having the same/similar issues on my Kyocera Hydro Icon. I've tried everything: uninstalled updates to the affected gapps, cleared app cache/data, factory wiped, cleared cache from the boot menu, etc. Nothing 100% works other than rolling back Google Play Services and or uninstalling/rolling back any updates to the affected apps and opting not to upgrade any of them. Right now I have Gmail, Maps and Play Music functioning but because those are all older versions. The older Hangouts version is incompatible with 8.1.5 so that, along with Hangouts Dialer, still crashes.

This is super-annoying and is a major bug for Kyocera users. I bet you they're having meetings about this now and saying "well, the customer base for this bug is pretty slim so it's a corner case and not high priority blah blah blah" - I only know [and would assume] this because I'm in QA :)

Agree, with above. Best

Ok, now go to location settings and turn on location services, make sure its where you want it, ie. Batery saving high accuracy etc, then upgrade to 8.1.15 034 or 038. Just following prompt from whatever app is requesting it, like hangouts or maps, or get it off apk mirror site. Google play services made location services crash for me several times I could not update it unless I uninstall updates. Good luck, my phone did the same and thats how I fixed it

Is anybody else noticing that Virgin mobile app " my account" under check updates for system crashes? Tried it and causes play services to quit.

I haven't read through the whole thread here, I saw this as a Popular thread while perusing the Note 5 section. Buy one, you'll love it.

Love it so long as you can be without a User replaceable battery, no SD card, and no IR. I'm learning to do without.

OK. Here's how I fixed my Note 5 from the dreaded Play Services / Store "Waiting on network" hang I was suffering earlier this past weekend from.

Go to
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/

Here, you'll need to know your phones processor and whether or not it's x86 or x64 based.

Knowing both, read the uploaders notes THROUGHLY then download the CORRECT/PROPER latest available and install over the current Play Services you have.

This fixed my Play Services.

Thats the first thing I tried, failed to fix anything

Thats odd, google play games just updated on its own even though I dont have automatic updates checked. Ad it works, for now at least

This worked, its still crashing constantly but it worked long enough to get logged back in. This makes the situation so much more bearable for me. Thank you for your help and patience!

Edit: Not that its as much of a problem for me but just so that it can be noted, the play store isnt working fully. It tells me to check my connection and try again. I checked the host file and its as it should be so the issue is likely tied to it still crashing a lot.

Edit 2: When hitting the refresh on play store, gapps crashes. most of the time it gives the mentioned error but sometimes it will say I need to log in for authorization which it gives me no option of doing. I think my phone is just stuck as it is until something happens.
