Got my Droid today... any questions?

Like iPhone shows ballons from a texter, listing the text and reply until you delete them, can it do that, in some form or fashion.

I will be not only getting it in store tommorrow but will also be switching over from at&t.

Ah, threaded messaging. Yes, it's in there. I also use Handcent SMS, free app that replaces the default text program and it can be made to look exactly like the iPhone with bubbles and all.

What is it?

Droid ogg file all zipped up. Notification sound :)

Not phone texting savy, thanks, that is it 'threaded messaging'.

Do you know if it will connect to outlook on a laptop for email and calendar, as well as connect to at&t email.

Thanks, you are doing great.

It won't let me view the file.

You'll need to unzip it first and then open it with an ogg player like Media Monkey or Winamp.

I know it can pull your at&t mail, it's a matter of setting up the mail servers. As far as an email/calendar sync, I am not sure... I know there is an exchange sync, but I am not sure about sync with a local machine. I believe HTC has a sync program for their Android devices, but there is no Moto software like that of any kind, this is stock Android.

how much did you pay for the phone? Does wal-mart do an instant rebate?? I am dying because I don't get paid untill tomorrow

Does the ambient light sensor work well, like the iphone, or is it crappy like a blackberry?

I always disable them, because I think they are always crappy, even on the iPhone. This one seems as craptacular. I put the brightness on 25% and it's very viewable... don't get me wrong, it's no OMLED like the Samsung Moment, but for the size it's good.

203 and some change (it was 188.88 prior to taxes) Instant rebate applied at the store.

I read several review comments about the long delay when using the camera between button and picture. How bad is it, and does it make the camera unusable for action shots ?

At the rate you are adding apps, by tomorrow you won't be able to review anymore... LOL. But by then we will all have our own toy anyway.

No way... a second and a half @ most.

Thanks OP for all the good info.

As a huge Linux fan, a huge open source fan, a huge Google fan, and as a never-owned-a-smartphone-before user, I am so excited for tomorrow!

Didn't see an answer to my question...wanted to confirm that movies formatted for the iPhone played w/out any aspect issues, smoothly, etc?

Also - what movie player did you use?

Thanks.

You should be, Android is a great place to start and the Droid, while not perfect, will be an enjoyable experience.

Since you got it at walmart I have a question, not really related to the phone itself. I've always gone thru the actual verizon store for all my phone needs. I never went to walmart or anywhere else.

Since i'm still in contract with the versa. I was going to add a line and then put my number on the droid and then the new phone number on my versa. Will Walmart be able to do that for me or do I need to go to the VZ store for that. The only reason I'm going to walmart is because of the instant rebate.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry... I kn ow nothing about that. I got a new line in order to get the Droid.

I've found that typing on the hard keyboard is actually difficult around the space bar :(

Darth.

You just made me register to the Forums :)

My question is this.

I have 4 IMAP email accounts. How do these configure on the Droid? Do I have to setup 4 different accounts and have 4 seperate email icons on my "desktop" or can I check all 4 accounts, going into the "mail" app?

Another thing. I use Outlook for my "Contacts" and "Calendar", can we sync those?

I also use my Macbook on occasion, will it sync w/ ICal or IContact?

Really appreciate any info you can provide, sounds like you're really enjoying the phone, I pick mine up tomorrow. :)

i know when i had my bb one of the features i like was that you could select copy and paste data from the browser to an email or text... can you do this on the droid... please tell me yes... :)
