Got some questions? think they're stupid? POST 'EM HERE

I do it with Root Explorer. I have A2sd so when I open up RE I go to Sd ext/apps long press and select Move then back out go to system/apps and paste it

Copy LP to your PC, rename the LP apk to Launcher2.pk then connect your phone up to USB and do the following from cmd:
Code:
adb remount

adb push Launcher2.apk /system/app/Launcher2.apk

Not able to forcefully move zdnet app to my sdcard.
not sure why most apps can be forced.
running a rooted stock froyo.

Some apps have the added protection built-in to prevent being moved to the SD Card.I've overcome this in the past by using the app LINK2SD.
You have to partition your SDCard to use this app,so,back-up your SD contents to a PC before formatting & partitioning your SD CARD.
An added benefit of LINK2SD is that you are able to move more data to the SD Card than w/Stock FROYO.

Do you know if force2sd requires reformatting the sdcard? and would it work if Titanium backup can't move the app?

Is this to replace my launcher with lp?

Is it safe to remove the default launcher if i did?

Yeah, it's safe to delete default launchers. All you need is one launcher, doesn't matter which one, just as long as you have something to be there when you hit the end/home button.

OK im not much of a poster answers r usually on here or google somwhere...just fed up wit this. ok im trying to do the prl update but i was wondering can you mess up the drivers on the phone level?or how the computer reads my phone?...the reason i ask is when i plug my phone in, under android phone in device manager, i have 5 "android composite adb interface"'s...they r all installed using the google drivers that r n sdk..(had to send each one to the google drivers) so i dont get installation errors.. ive never seen the dbacomposite interface which i think it needs to read in order to work.the ascend drivers never worked only pointing to google drivers did.tryed installing the ascend drivers on another computer but no luck either. it showed 5 andrid mobile adapters under other devices...could i have screwed somthing up installing drivers back wen u had to install cwm the old fashion way? any help would be great.

What other bednefits does link2sd have?

I wanted to move one not so important program.

Long pressing apps with titanium backup moves most apps forcefully to sd
that refuse to move. What makes link2sd much better that I should go through the trouble of backing up and reinstalling everything on my sdcard? Will it definitely move the zdnet program? I also asked if anyone knew if force2sd would move zdnet? And if that program required reformatting the sd card?

Here's my stupid question. I have Icarus 1.1 running and apps2sd is working wonderfully, however my internal memory is increasing almost to the point of full with what I assume to be the dalvik cache, or so I've been told. Is it an advantage for me to move it to the sd as well? The dalvik cache that is. Or how else can I stop or figure out what is filling my internal memory. I've done the "a2sd repair" in the Terminal already. Thanks for any help.

to move the cache open TE and type"su" than type (a2sd cachesd" your phone will do a buch of stuff than reboot once itfinish, to check it open TE again and type "su" and "a2sd check" without quotes.

I've been using Link2SD for some time now and really love it. It took me a while to realize that I needed to restart the phone after setting up the 2nd partition on the card but, after I did that, it's been running like a charm.

I finally have a stupid question.

Why is my phone starting to hang/lag, it began to degrade in performance over the weeks...

Running 2.2 with PlayfulMod ROM.

cause its not overclock like cm6, its clock to 600 mhz compared to 710 mhz in cm6. ;)
Hmm. Guess I have another stupid question, how can I overclock this NO GOOD PIECE OF <3<3<3.

Yeah, the hardware is crappy but I mean, it didn't start doing this until a week or so recently.
Also could be running low on space. Try clearing cache or deleting some apps.
Um...I barely have any Apps on there. Here's the list from the menu.

Majority are Huwaei Stock, the two Metro Apps are on there for obvious reasons, the Metro Browser really is in need of replacement....

SD Card 1.83 GB Total, Available 0.91 GB, Internal Phone Storage, Available Space 28.78 MB.

So I'm pretty sure the Space, unless those numbers are horrible, is not what's causing it, as I haven't installed/uninstalled anything, going to clear cache but really sure that won't help it as I've mentioned before.
yep cache cleaner Mate and history eraser. ;)
I'll try that in a few, kinda un-optimistic about it after hearing the Stock ROM is crap on this phone...so I'm looking at other alternatives.

This phone will start to lag if you get under 30mb of internal storage.. The only way to overclock is to install cm6 or cm7. If you are rooted and don't want to flash a ROM, you can partition your sd card and use the app "link 2sd" to move more apps and data to the card and free up internal memory.

------This is for informational use only, I am not responsible for you messing up your own phone, or loosing your contacts. Use this solution at own risk.----------

I have spent the last hour trying to figure out why the individual ringtones for each of my contacts stopped working this last week.

_do i have cm6/7 or other mod = no
_do i have random ringtone editor = no
_have I rooted and messed with internal settings = yes (but not the problem)
_have i fixed stuff I messed up = yes

So why are my custom (individual and caller id based contacts) ringtones going to the default ringtone I set to the phone?

Answer: DUPLICATE CONTACTS at same time causes programing conflicts.

If you have ever restored contacts lists from gmail and/or mem card or pc at the same time of one another it can create multiple lists. (and sometimes creates "joined" contacts, usually signified by the lowercase 'g')

The problem that I think happens is the phone tries to use properties from both lists, conflicts results and says screw it I'll just use default.

+++Solution+++:
First off, do a clean backup of your contacts to mem card or pc [better yet, just pencil and paper all details :) ].
2nd, delete all contacts with a 'g' next to them(might be all).
3rd, turn off google sync to contacts.
>4th is Very Important<
4th, go to the favorites next to contacts and again delete all with 'g' mark.
5th, "manage contacts" and restore from mem card.
6th, clean up the 'g' ones again if any/all (you may need to manually input some/all if no contacts remain [see pencil and paper]).

That should correct the ringtone to default/error issue. If it occurs again, repeat step 4, somehow some 'g' contacts are hidden.

Anyways Peace, Yo! From:JJdaCool

+1

I don't use individual ringtones, but this is a good post. Hope it helps those that do.

I'm gonna have to get back to you on that one, probably gonna upgrade the SD card then.

I don't mind re-flashing ROMs, or using different ones, but I like the one I has now, should ask the guy himself me thinks...did NOT know about the little 'limit' there.

Thanks though, gonna try this too after I clear caches like Nutts mentioned. :D

I am running the latest version of Swype, (3.25.91D91083.t100) but have had this problem for a long time, several versions back.

Everytime I reboot, I have to select Swype as the keyboard. EVERY TIME. Any way around this?

Thanks,
