Put the phone in airplane mode, then change the time manually and turn off the airplane mode. If that doesn't work, dial *228 and send.

Hi guys!
As of today, my Huawei Ascend has a mind of its own. It turns off by itself and I can't turn it back on. The only way that it will turn on, is by putting it on the charger.
I did take the battery out for a few minutes but that didn't help.
Has anyone else had this problem? And, if so, please help me! Thanks!!

Nope. But the first thing I'd do is wipe out the battery stats and let it recharge fully before turning it on.

You can use Titanium Backup to change user apps into system apps by long pressing the app name on the list and selecting the option. I don't know about Metro mail, but make a nandroid backup in case you break something you can just restore your backup.

You don't need to do that.
Just install skyfire and use titanium backup to delete "[bookmarks..] browser" it will be green and have the browser symbol.
Metro email wont affect gmail if that is your concern
To make any app a "system" app you can simply move it to the system>apps folder from the user>data>app folder using root explorer and then fix permissions in cwm

Is this possible? I didn't think it was. After upgrading a phone and backing up messages with MyBackup Pro...never noticed how many texts she had.
8790 on 177 or so threads.
Holy hell.
Not only after the restore, which was successful, did the phone refuse to open any message without the Activty error, force close thing...I couldn't even delete a SINGLE THREAD! Used Super SMS Quick Delete and finally got into progress. Left her phone deleting the threads, hopefully she'll be able to use the Messaging App thingy, stock thingy...you know how people love to Text.
I'm surprised though, could this have been why her phone, when she had 2.1, kept coming up with 'Out of memory' or low memory warnings?
Should also add that the MyBackup file, which we backed up, Contacts, Calander, SMS, MMS, Call Log, Music Playlists, and Bookmarks, total of the file...471 MB.

What's the latest PRL for MetroPCS's Ascend?
I realized that mine must be either horribly outdated or a friend's phone had a custom PRL added to it. Mine's 3019. Her's is 3021.

This can be a great phone for the price when it's customized.
Not sure about the android keyboard glitch but the androidhwext says it is using 0kb. Probably won't have a huge effect on space even if it can't be removed. to recap I tried changing android keboard to a user app and it glitched out titanium. when i went back into apps it was no longer android keyboard but androidhwext. the forced uninstall in titanium wouldn't work. it just locked up. under apps all options greyed out.

I just noticed an issue today with downloads. The only difference I can think of right now is that installed CWM using the steps in the customization topic, performed a back-up and moved some programs to my sdcard using app2sd from the market and titanium pro backup. Usually Opera Mini downloads practically anything for me but I have tried it and Skyfire and I get "download failed" with no other explanation. Any ideas? Its just a .zip file I'm trying to download from a site I've downloaded from before.

Not sure about the restarting thing..I know that if i am talking and my phone reaches 30% it will cut off the call, which is annoying as all hell, especially if i am in the middle of a conference call at work..

Hi, is there any way to get the original 2.1 camera software,and to make it function on 2.2.2? im finding the software to be garbage and the pictures arent even nearly as clear as they used to be before the update. This is my only negative feedback about 2.2.2, and am wondering if someone has tried and found a working fix/solution/etc for this? Thank you

I've been having issues with market downloads too. Usually, they just take about a minute to start downloading, but occasionally they don't start at all, and I have to start them over again.
Specifically the permission to read system log files? App in question is pocket informant. I used it on my dinc for quite a while. Went to install it on my milestone x and became concerned about the request for so many permissions. How concerned should I be? I think they are a trusted company with long history.
Sorry for stupid question. I could not find an answer anywhere. If ive posted in the wrong thread, my apologies and advance. Thanks for any advice!

As a general rule of thumb; the more permissions req'd, the more untrustworthy the app. (Imo)
This app would seem to follow suit... as you pointed out, it needs to access 'system log files'
(someone correct me if i'm in error) I do not know of any good reason that a calendar app should ever have access to these:
* Full Internet access
* Read sensitive log data (sys log)
"Allows an application to read from the system's various log files. This allows it to discover general information about what you are doing with the device, potentially including personal or private information."
* Read phone state and identity
"... see the number that call is connected to ."
Yeah, there are agenda/calendar apps on the market that you can try out, many which wont need or require much. Some of them have similar features to PI, some better some worse.

if i am not actually in the android market app, is it using my data plan? i have the symbol that it is when i log out of the market.

After exiting the MARKET,go to SETTINGS>APPLICATIONS>RUNNING SERVICES.If the MARKET APP isn't shown,then you're not using data.
There are apps in the market that show data usage,but,i'm not sure if any of them give detailed information as to what is using data &/or when data is/was used.
You may want to download one of these apps to verify this,or just shoot GOOGLE an e-mail to verify.
Perhaps go to the FAQ section at GOOGLE or market.android.com & see if this has already been answered.
