GPS Fix 9/18/2010 Over the Air

Just like when the 1.6 update went out for the behold 2's i had one.

I got it a week and a half after the "Date".
 
Like I said in the Tmo forum the phone is full of great promise. I want to love it I really do. I am very disappointed in myself for not waiting longer to buy the Vibrant and doing more research. Where is consumer reports with the do not recommend for this phone like they did for iphone 4?:mad:

Samsung is like Lindsay Lohan. Talented, and full of promise and hope. Yet, continues to fail QC testing, one after the other, and yet the industry still continues to give Samsung a break.

Come on, the 4 carriers just gave Samsung another break by signing on to carry their upcoming tablet. I know i've given Samsung breaks, this isn't my first Samsung product with QC problems.

It was reported Lindsay failed her testing again this week! She is set to appear in-front of the judge once more. Now, if Samsung screws up the upcoming GPS optimization update, I say throw Samsung in UCLA rehab along with Lindsay, and throw away the keys.

Just like millions of starving actors would love to have Lindsay's opportunities in the industry, tons of cell phone companies would love to have our money, so get it right Samsung, no more breaks for you!
 
Hey, if the OP was really told by T-Mobile the update would be out today, how many of you think, he/she is fuming with anger right now, and counting down the remaining hours in today, the 18th of September, 2010?

What I would do to listen in on the Customer service phone call he/she is going to make tomorrow morning!
 
Consumer reports jumped all over Apple for its iphone 4 foibles, rightly so. Even it was blown out of proportion. Where are they on this with Samsung?

I want my Vibrant to work right now more than I want another phone or carrier. That said I wish more would start rattling our vocal swords towards the carriers and Samsung. I understand being patient but in this matter why? I have not any stake in any telco nor Samsung other than my Vibrant. Why should'nt they be put on notice that we the consumer are not happy. Across most forums are too many zealots with their snarky stop yer' whining comments. Sorry I will continue to be a squeaky wheel. Maybe not here but Customer service will continue to get an ear full until something is done.:(

Hmmm well how about starting a little thing called a class action law suit? It was advertised as having GPS.

So lets see, lets say the phone is 200 bucks on 2 yr contract. Thats 730 days. It has been slightly over 2 months since the Vibrants release, that is 60 days without a working GPS. 200 bucks divided by 730 dollars is about 27 cents a day. 2 months of non working GPS, is 60 days time 27 cents. About 16 bucks...oooohhhh we can get a silicone T-Mobile case for 16 bucks!!!

People who paid full retail, 499, would get more than double that amount!

Ghost, I typically like you and your posts...but that was uncalled for. I've had two other phones with fairly flawless GPS: a Sidekick LX 2009 and a Blackberry 9700. The GPS on my Vibrant simply doesn't work. It's great that yours does, but you have to understand the frustration of those who have non-working GPS on their Vibrants. I dont use turn-by-turn navigation as much as I do apps that require GPS to search what's in the area, like places. I use those a LOT and when my phone can't tell where I am it IS frustrating. I love my phone and all it does...but I bought it under the assumption that the GPS worked like my previous phones. I dont want to return or exchange my phone, I just want it to work as promised.
 
i understand some people have problems but to beat a dead horse is just uncalled for. I for one am a bit tired of seeing the same people complain about the same things repeatedly. There is a fix coming. End of. It will get here whenever it does. I love all of you guys and the vibrant, i just want to see a little less crying and a little more ''hey look at this!''
 
Sorry my complaining on a forum has made you so upset! Oh how I wish my Vibrant was perfect like yours. So here goes: Hey look at this! I tried to use Echo echo but it didnt work. Hey look at this! Layar doesn't work nor does Navigation! Places nope! Compass nada! DONE! :mad:

On a side note, i do apologize for my blatent outburst. Uncalled for, immature, and not well thought out. So i ask for forgiveness, a mulligan, and a hug. So again, im sorry guys. I feel really crappy about it now.

From what i read now, while i may be getting 3 or so locks on my GPS, an idea gps lock, even for other smart phones, is 5 - 8 or more! So it seems like even the better of the vibrants are still lacking in the gps department.
 
Perhaps I'm not as disappointed with the vibrant as some of you are because I knew what I was getting myself into. I always try to do as much research as I can before purchasing devices as complicated as this phone.
 
My apologies to the board as well. Thanks for setting the example Ghost. I let my frustration get the better of me. One good thing Fruit Ninja works great!

Fruit ninja DOES work great.

Stuck at a train during a delivery....helped pass the 4 minutes of wait. High score of 125...cant beat it.
 
So what's the next "rumored" date? How about I start a rumor saying I just spoke to a friend of a friend of my cousin's friend who knows someone that works for T-Mobile and said to "watch out for 9/27"?

At least we have a new target now, right? :)

It's kinda like those who give a date for the end of the world. Eventually someone has to be right!
