GS3 Case discussion thread

I bought a Avoca X TPU skin for my S3 and it is already in e garbage! The power port isn't big enough and you had to take it off everytime you want to plug in your phone and the power button is covered and you have to press it ridiculously hard to make it do anything. I ended up with a casemate barely there instead.

Got my Speck Candyshell in the mail yesterday. Looks very nice. Gotta hand it to Speck, ordered it and had it in a day. great service.

So, I spend a lot of time in remote areas and am considering another case for rough usage. So far it looks like the Otterbox Defender and the Body Glove Dropzone are two of the most durable ones. Any other recommendations for consideration?

Size isn't an issue, although if it's a bulky case, some type of clip would be useful.

I found this one
and for $10 shipped

does not fit case
Amazon.com: Premium Horizontal Leather Cover for Samsung Galaxy S3 Slll i9300 (Black): Cell Phones & Accessories
does not fit case
im hoping the case fits in the second one if not the first if not Ill have to try locally

Those 2 puches did not fit the case but this one fits perfect
Amazon.com: Samsung Galaxy Note Pouch: Cell Phones & Accessories

I ordered from one stop cell and it came in in 3 days
also the picture is wrong for the pouch it only has a clip, no belt loops but the clip is one of the biggest and strongest I have seen to date no worries about it getting loose, it is very tight
the last pouch fits this case perfect and should any other type of rugged case
This case is very protective for only $10 shipped and pouch is another $10
and has kickstand for portrait and landscape that not many can do at all, portrait.

Also on a continuation from my post above

All those outterbox's cases with the built in screen protectors, to date I have not seen one in use (lets say more than a week or two) where there was no crud, dust, etc. behind the screen protector (that could, I stress could) get a grain of sand or something in, that could scratch the screen (just my opinion, and that is all on that).

Now onto the other rugged cases, I have the rugged case with clip (and spare battery built in) for my iPhone 4s now from Seidio.
And my option post above is a better one, cause the belt clip on the Seidio or other brand I would imagine the same, sticks out a lot and could rip/ tear a seat or other object it accidentally touches, and my arm from hitting it. Is it a big problem absolutely not, but just saying and the cost on these from these major companies is $40+ more, just saying I've been down this road before.

Now for screen protection I have tried a few and always come back to zagg, just make sure when applying, I do it in the bathroom with the shower running and exhaust fan on, a lot less dust particles to apply any screen protector, use lots of liquid for the zagg and wet your fingers and keep them wet (with the zagg spray) until you start the squeegee process, keep a towel near by so when squeegeeing the extra water you can soak it up quickly before it gets into the phone, and take your time.

Is there anything you don't like about it? I'm thinking about ordering :)

I'm curious as well! I'd love to know how it feels - I'm hoping to keep the phone as slim as possible and am unsure how bulky this case is. Any insight would be wonderful!

Is any one just going to go with a full body wrap? I bought this because they had a really good deal going on.

Phantom Skinz |Samsung Galaxy S III, cell phone skins, screen protectors, cases, covers, shields, full body protection

I got 2 full body matte wraps for $12.47 shipped, regular price would have been about $50 for two. I was thinking of just putting them on and not using a case. Will that be enough protection?

I also went for the same deal, but in my opinion it is certainly not enough (e.g. drops). I would minimally also go with inexpensive case such as this. That said, there are lots of case options that give more protection (in this thread) depending on how *careful* you are with your phone :D.

I wanted to buy that same case before I found the deal on the skin. Maybe I'll put both on. I just don't want to add any thickness to the phone and still have some protection. As for drops I was thinking that the back cover is replaceable and the screen is gorilla glass, so I wouldn't be too bad if I drop it.

Might want to check this this out first.... :D

From the videos I have seen I think it is only the back, sides and a little lip over the front of the screen but no screen protector.

My past 3 phones have had OB defenders on them... No issues with crud/dirt etc buildup and I work construction. That said when flashing a lot (and the battery pulls often involved when playing with some roms) I often end up with a dust particle, or hair or something that somehow wedges its way in there. Usually after about 15 min it bothers me enough that I reach for my large box of phone cleaning wipes (bought 1k box of them a couple years ago and still have a lot left) and go to town before putting the case back together. That lasts me until the next time I get an especially buggy rom im playing with.

TL/DR Its only a problem if you take the cases apart... Otherwise they do a good job of keeping gunk out.
