CAPDASE Alumor Jacket-Elli for Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-i9300, Looks cool

That does look very nice! The light grey with the light blue would look great with pebble blue. I wonder if it's real metal or just painted to look that way. I also wonder if the "metal" would interfere with any signals.

Too bad I just placed my order for a 2nd Acase case....

Okay, Ches, you sold me.

Going to order one from Amazon today.

This doesn't add a considerable amount of thickness to the phone?

It does add some thickness as it has the rim around the screen. But it is similar to the Seidio case. I think it works well. Makes my Droid X with TPU case look huge!

I ordered the Seidio Surface Case instead.

The big reason why I went with this case....

I am buying the Samsung Media Charging Dock. The case has to be slimform enough to fit in that dock. I watched a YouTube video about the dock and the reviewer had the Seidio Surface Case on his GS3 and it fit perfectly in the dock.

I will experiment with other cases later to see what can and cannot fit in the Samsung charging dock.

does that use the same battery and or charger as you sell for iphone 4s?
Cause I have 2 chargers and 3 batteries for that, this would be sweet.

Our Innocell Plus for the Galaxy S III uses a different battery than the batteries from the SURFACE Plus for the iPhone 4/4S. They are not compatible.

I will post another vote in favor of the Acase Superleggera Pro - $15 from Amazon - I have dropped my S3 two or three times pretty rough, including a 6 foot fall onto concrete right on a corner.

The phone has held up perfectly, although amusingly that one impact triggered a screenshot to be captured.

I've had my S3 for about 2 weeks now and over all I'm very happy with coming from a Droid 2 Global. I'm curious about what cases everyone is happy with, I'm looking at the Otterbox and the iSkin. I'm also interested in hearing from people who are using an extended battery and what cases have you found that fit your phone. I'm a little bit on the fence about getting a extended battery because I'm almost getting the same performance with the S3 as when I had with an extended battery on my D2G. Let me know folks!.

Can someone recommend me a case pouch that I can clip on my pants and the phone sits sideways?

I bought a cheap one from ebay and its already falling apart

Having had to replace a phone already because of droppage, YES a case is necessary. I had the Rock case on it and love the feel but the phone landed near the large bottom button and smashed the screen. I guess "gorilla glass" looses out to cement from four feet. In the market for a real case and dumping the Rock case.

Same as my wife's phone. It was in a clear TPU case, fell face down from maybe a 3.5 - 4ft drop onto ceramic tile. The screen cracked on one of the corners. This happened week 1 (preorder), and she ordered a replacement. Against her desires, I got her an Otterbox Commuter for the replacement phone which has been on the phone now for nearly 3 months. She has dropped it a couple of times since with no damage to the phone.

So yes I agree, I think this phone needs a case, and not just a basic case with little or no protection if you tend to be a klutz like my wife. :D

I rarely drop my phones, but considering this is the first smart phone we've had get damaged from I consider "a simple drop" out of the the 8 or so years we've been getting smart phones, I didn't hesitate and got myself the Otterbox Defender. Yeah, it's bulky, but well worth the investment.

My Diztron (?) arrived the other day in black. Looks nice..doesn't add any builk but protects all around the edge. Looks nice. I'd recommend.

I'm actually sending it back it's crappy...the kickstand broke off the first day and the charger only charges your phone 35%...not worth double the weight and width

Thanks for the update. Too bad it didn't work out for you. Sounds like it would have been a nice case.

Got my 2nd Acase. It's still nice as usual. Good protection with minimal bulk. I had black, just got purple. The purple is a lot brighter than the picture online. The online picture is more royal purple. In real life it's more florescent and more pink. The base plastic is magenta and they sprayed the "purple" color on top. I still like it ven though it's not the nice deep purple I like. Looks good with the pebble blue.

I thought I would followup my original post with some information and pictures of the case/mount that I am currently using.

I got it from an eBay seller here in the US (I tend to avoid China sellers if possible) for eight dollars and change.Shipping was free when I bought it, but now it is $1.99. The link is here, but being eBay it will rot in a few months, so I have enclosed a pic.

It comes in two parts: The case, which covers the back and sides of the phone, and the holster, which goes on the belt. The phone fits into the holster face-in, which protects the screen.

  • Yes, it has a lip that protects the screen from dust, scratches or very small loose diamonds if laid face-down on a flat surface.
  • No, it won't provide much protection if the phone is dropped, thrown, or used as a weapon of mass percussion.
  • The case is a good fit, but can be easily removed if necessary.
  • The phone itself perhaps a little slippery, but not much more so than the naked phone; that just encourages me to hold on tight :D
  • Both the case and the holster have "kickstand" mechanisms. The former is stiff and does not come out easily (not a problem - I always carry a pocketknife).
  • To use the kickstand on the holster, the case needs to be removed and the phone inserted "face-out"
  • The phone's fit into the holster was a little loose, but a couple of strategically-placed felt pads took care of that, and now the phone/case requires just the right amount of effort to remove it from the holster.
I'm still looking for something better, but case/holster combinations are expensive, and this will do nicely for the time being.

My Seidio Active Combo with kickstand case came in today. I must say this is now my favorite case. I thought it would add a lot of bulk but it doesn't. This case is just the case I needed.

I liked the active case, but I didn't like the way it went into the belt clip, I gave it to a guy at work that was running around naked. I use the surface case when I don't feel like carrying the bulky otterbox case.
