GS3 Case discussion thread

Has anyone in Australia got any good battery cases they can recommend? The only decent ones I can find aren't sold in oz, the ones that are are no-name fakes as far as I can see

Having a hard time finding a good case for my S3. All the protective cases I've tried are either too bulky or I have a hard time accessing the back and home buttons because they extend so far up or over the phone. Any suggestions? I would like something somewhat protective but I still would like to be able to use my phone!!
Thanks for all the great help!

I just got this case from an ebay dealer (auction)

Its not hard to take off at all. It fits very well on the phone and adds very little bulk. I got mine off of Amazon for $32. That was the cheapest price I could find for that case.

it's currently $22 on Amazon, so it's a good deal!

I wonder if the Garnet Red color is a good match to the Garnet Red S3.

We are excited to tell everyone on Android Forums about OBEX, a waterproof, impact proof, dust proof and snow proof case! Learn more about this case here: SEIDIO | OBEX Waterproof Case

Is there any place we can see the dimensions?

It seems like the ideal case for me. As the father of a toddler, my pockets have sand in them all of the time. In fact, way back at the beginning of this thread I asked about the existence of just this sort of case.

My only concerns are about the built in screen protector. If it becomes scratched by sand, can it be replaced? At what cost? How many times would you be able to remove and re-apply the protector, so that the phone could be naked on the occasions i want it to fit in a suit pocket?

Is the Seidio Surface in Glossed White too slippery? Is it any grippier at all than a bare phone.

Note: the Seidio surface in white is different than their standard textures

I got the otterbox commuter. It's good. It fits the phone very well. It's not difficult to remove the phone but it's not the easiest. I like it.

On page 11 "Tommydaniel" posted a picture of a blue metal case... I had bought this blue one and it didnt occur to me until today that the reason behind my signal loss for the phone it self and the wifi was because of this aluminum case I thought it was my phone or the sim card... However while sitting in my basement I noticed there was some dirt stuck under the case so i took the phone out for a bit to clean the case itself I turned the screen on and noticed it went from 2 bars to full bar for both wifi and signal strength.... I do not recommend aluminum or metallic cases...

I just got the otterbox commuter case and not too happy.
The quality is top notch BUT slippery as hell! I dropped it 3 times already cuz there's no grip. Love the design but its got to go.

Mine has no effect on the signal, nor should it since there are three holes on the back and the entire front is open. Metal should only block radio waves if there are no holes.

It is very slippery, even more than the bare phone. It felt very insecure, so I switched back to the black Surface case which has great hand feel and grip.

Love the Seidio Black Surface Case. Very nice rubbery feel across the back. Nice grip. Only problem is that it's near impossible to get the phone out of the case once in.

Thanks, I have the black now. Great feel and it actually feels like part of the phone, not an add on.

That's a good price. Is that the one with the holster?

it does not appear to include the holster, so not such a good deal after all, I guess. But I don't use holsters, so it's okay with me. However, I'm actually considering the Seidio Surface case instead. Such a hard decision! And then I get to do this again for the Nexus 7 tablet I'm buying this weekend. Ugh....

I like the Surface case also, but I need the Kickstand. I wish they would have made a Surface case with a kickstand.

I read that one of the reasons the S3 as better connectivity over the HTX One X is because of the S3's plastic body
