Root [GUIDE] 100% Stock LG Optimus V (All Versions)

I guess it really doesn't matter what screen I have since both nandroids give me the same error when it gets to "Restoring boot image...". I'm not sure what's wrong because I can use the same method to restore backups just fine

It's got to be something in the tutorial your missing(not getting right) I'll look it over real close and see what I see.

you know, it's possible lg finally locked the bootloader s-on (no changing the boot.img allowed)
hope not, but it would save them a lot of returns.
can you post the firmware version (baseband) from settings>about phone?
it should be pv5.something
I'd like to see if it's newer than my woman's, which had a higher firmware release version than my newest, but the boot.img still flashes ok on it.
you can also try adb or terminal instead of recovery to flash the boot.img

Baseband version is VM670ZV5_60401001

I was using the first (2.2.1) method of recovery

the newest I've had my hands on is zv5.41c0e84
so yours is newer.

sure hope they didn't lock the boot.img flash.

did you get any errors after the "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img" line?

I didn't get that far, I stopped after it gave me the error while restoring boot img so i didn't even try restoring stock recovery. Should I go ahead and do that first?

oh. no, definitely not.
sorry, must've been not thinking right.
you could try to manually flash the boot.img from the nandroid.
copy it to the sdcard
then in adb shell in recovery, type

flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img

and post any error message

Just tried the command with phone in recovery and it gave me this error:

C:\android\platform-tools>adb shell
~ # flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img
flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img
failed with error: -1
error opening /sdcard/boot.img~ # exit
exit

Hey bigsupersquid. The 2.2.1 download is highly prone to corruption.
The 2.2.2 is fine.

Since I can't get the stock nandroids from this thread to flash, can I simply restore a nandroid backup I made from before I flashed my first ROM, wipe data/cache, and continue onto installing the stock recovery?

Heyy! I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped with this! I made an account just to say thanks! I try out a lot of different ROMs and forgot to backup my Stock. You saved me from having to find one! I havent messed up yet, but you know, as a just in case means.
Thanks Again!!(:

Glad I could help and they aren't my files, but the thanks is still appreciated :D

I downloaded the 2.2.1 1 time about 6 months ago and have no problems with it; he could just have really crappy internet.
I checked it out myself back a ways ^ and got three different md5 sums. I'll have to check it again.
it's better to check it with something slow than phenomenally fast. That way you know that whatever their PC is they won't get a corrupt download.

I am getting 401 errors on both the 2.2.2 files.
"Error (401)
It seems this link has expired or become inactive!"

My internet speed is to slow to upload the files and I guess the original uploader deleted them. Maybe pm Andyopie and ask him if he could upload to mediafire :).
