First off, thank you for the guide! I'm having some problems with the LG Flash Tool. After "Waiting for connection" I get this error:
PID: NULL
IMEI: Unknown
Model : UNKNOWN
DLL : LS740
BIN : LS740ZV3_17.33030_SECURE.TOT
SW : UNKNOWN
SWOV : UNKNOWN
Device Model is different!
Check Phone or DLL!
00000000
Factory Model Check ERROR!!
Any idea what's going on? I followed the steps exactly, tried 4-5 times, and keep getting the same error message.
On another note....how many folks, other than you OP, have successfully done this? Cause I haven't seen many success posts TBH...
Yup never had a problem there. My PC recognizes it as soon as I plug it in. Getting ready to give it another go, downloading all the files again as we speak. Here's hoping it goes well but if not then I give up....for now lolI've had success with doing no this with both the Boost and Sprint versions of the Volt.
Sorry you're having so much trouble. It seems the LG Flash Tool is not detecting the phone properly. If you boot the phone into Android and then plug it into your computer via usb, does Windows detect it and load the drivers properly?

Spocko, thank you for the input, but all of that is in my post.
Added (MegaLock.dll) to the guide. Apologizes...I thought it was included with the flash tool.
I know the flash tool has a megalock dll with it, but I thought the person that uploaded the zip included the hacked one as well.Uh, no it wasn't. I added some additional details, MD5's, screenshot of download mode, and most importantly the correction related to MegaLock.dll.
Thank you sir. To be clear for others, a file called MegaLock.dll is installed along with the LG Flash Tool, but it's not the correct version for our phones. It is necessary to download the separate MegaLock.dll and replace the default one in the LgFlashTool program folder after you install the LG Flash Tool.
Did you ever get this working?I am also seeing the same error. It is for a Sprint Volt, activated on RingPlus network.

What if you factory reset your phone, then try to downgrade?Failed yet again for me
What if you factory reset your phone, then try to downgrade?
I know that's annoying, but there's nothing else I can think of at this point.

No, that would have no impact. There is some communication problem between your phone and computer. None of this has anything to do with what carrier you have.Quick question. I am on RingPlus network. So, I guess my "PRL" and "Profile" is updated for RingPlus (instead of Sprint). May PRL/Profile play any roll? I tried dialing ##72786# (to clear PRL/Profile ???) and then tried flushing. That failed as well.

There are no Linux drivers...I don't believe you actually need any.Any advice on installing the LG drivers on a Linux system? Running Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid lynx.) Or am I better off just using a windows system for the downgrade and flashing process?
Well, the box I have now has an onboard gpu, that isn't quite up to snuff to run the newest distro's unity requirements. I suppose I could switch to xubuntu or another distro, but I'm really happy with the stability and function of my current version. There are no Linux drivers...I don't believe you actually need any.
However, I don't know how to go about this process in Linux.
Someone else may be able to assist you, or just use Windows.
On another note, that's a pretty old version of Ubuntu...any reason for not upgrading?
I've updated the flash tool in the guide to v1.8. I just noticed that is what I have on my computer.
