Thanks, noob question. How do I install this? lol, do I leave the rar file as is, place it in the root of her memory card and use cwn to install it or do I have to do something else?
I'll have to do this tomorrow though but she can wait.

Use cwm to install it. Put it on the sdcard,
boot into cwm
- install zip from sdcard
- choose zip from sdcard
- (select zip )

Ok guys, I think I rooted my phone, I've got superuser anyway. Was wondering what I should do now. Getting confused at what to do, I think I'm so nervous about it that I'm reading way to much into things and second guessing everything.... Help

Trust me, it looks a billion times scarier than it really is. I'm probably being too explanatory in the guide, in actuality its like three things to click. I just finished flashing the new CTmod at lunch today while eating a chick-fil-a sandwich and drinking a milkshake. I finished the phone before the milkshake.

I checked to see what was on the sd and there are files on there from, I'm guessing, TB. I know, stupid noob. That's what I get for fooling around with stuff. Can I get rid of those files and how...
Or can I just do some kind of reset and start from scratch. I promise when I get this fixed I'm going to go by the book on the rest til I get it finished and working correctly. Thanks so much everybody, you guys are great....

You can remove the whole TB folder on the SD card if you like, there's nothing of great importance there that can't be replaced with another TB backup. I would just connect to the computer using usb and cut/paste the whole folder to the desktop (I have a folder just for backups from my phone, just in case) Or if you follow the guide and partition the SD card, it will completely erase everything on it. Its better to start fresh when switching roms anyway. Then when you install CTmod, it will wipe the rest of the phone, and end up completely cleaned out and better than new.
If you have the stock 2gb SD card (I'm guessing yes, if you filled it up with TB files) you could probably make do with a 512mg ext partition. That would be about twice as much internal memory as normal (aka twice as many apps)

Okay, I ran into some trouble. I got all the way to having CTMod installed, as well as KoumaKernal. I went into settings, checked and allowed all the right stuff, and now have rebooted it to put the SD partitioning into effect. Problem is, its not booting. Its been on the KoumaKernal image for over ten minutes now. I even tried a hard reset, and its still there. I'm going to restore to my backup before flashing the CTMod and KoumaKernal zips, and retry. But just for the record, in case it happens again, any idea what's up?

Okay, I got the issues solved from my previous post, and I'm loving my phone now. If anybody has the same problem I did (Doing EVERYTHING correct, step by step), and you get to the point where you select "Data" and check "Disable internal /data" under "KoumaKernel settings", but when you reboot, your phone will not advance from the KoumaKernel bootup image, here's how I got past that problem.
I used to have the Samsung Galaxy 2 (the sliding keyboard multimedia phone, NOT Galaxy S II, the Android), and I loved having a large MicroSD for music and photos. But I realized that with larger storage sizes, it would actually cause problems with the phone. So that's how I came to the conclusion that MAYBE I shouldn't be using a class 4 32GB MicroSD in my Galaxy Prevail. So I re-flashed CTMod and KoumaKernal, formatted my class 10 16GB MicroSD, partitioned 4GB through CWM, booted up, and went through the steps in the CTMod settings. And guess what? My phone booted up with my "internal storage" being the partitioned 4GB on my MicroSD!
So, in conclusion, I hope this can help somebody. If you're having trouble, and you're using a 32GB SD, step down to a 16BG SD, preferably a higher class SD. That might help.

Well guys, I think I have suceeded in rooting my phone and running CTMod 3.68....
a few little quirks to line out but I've got it running. Need to put all my contacts in and all that but it seems to working fine for now. Thanks so much for all the help and it was scarier than it really was, you all are great....:thumb:

I got to the end of chapter 2. Was getting tired since I work overnights and decided to stop. And was going to do the rest tomorrow. I have my card partitioned now. Then tried to install the backup of SD card after all this. I connected phone to p.c. and did mass storage. Only saw 4 folders just like it showed when I installed new card. I copied these to a folder, then deleted.
And just copied all stuff from my backup same as I did b4 when installing new card. I tried this twice.
None of my apps are showing up. When I partitioned I chose the largest choice. Task manager now shows program 38.30MB/161MB.
External SD card shows 181MB/11.10GB. The backup folder on p.c. shows
it is 176MB.
Here is where I think I messed up. At the end of chapter 2 I was unsure what to do to get out of CWM. I chose power off, now thinking maybe I needed to select reboot. What should I do now?

I did turn it back on and then proceeded to put my back up from before I started the guide on to the new partition. Because all my stuff was gone.

I think what you did was stick the apps on your SD card, but not install them. If you saved them with titanium backup, you can re-download TB and restore apps. If they were saved on the SD card with some other apps-to-SD program, it would probably be easier to just flash CTmod and continue with the guide. Once you flash CTmod it will delete everything except SD-card anyway, and its best to fresh install apps into new roms.
Your SD card will not show the space you set aside for SD-ext until you get CTmod installed and activate /data mode (and make sure to checkmark "disable internal data")
So basically I just go and start chapter 3? And after step one of chapter 3. Once I get the CTmod zip on the SD card by usb storage. Do I then remove it from my p.c. b4 booting into Clockworkmod Recovery to install zip from SD card?

Yeah, put the CTmod.zip on your SD card, and then turn off usb storage. you can leave it plugged in if you need to charge it, won't affect anything.

A couple more issues. When I select menu button there is not a notifications option like before. I downloaded one app and the play store icon is still on notification bar. And when I hooked up to the p.c. There was no immediate pop up of the turn on mass storage. I tried clicking on the drive and said install disk. I saw usb debugging and then usb connected in notification bar. But could not figure it out.
I also like the new keyboard. But how do I enable voice?

to open notifications, swipe the top status bar down (you clicked the menu for that?!?!?) the mass storage button is there as well
to enable voice, download google voice search from play store, or you can check out the swype beta, it has its own voice input.

Hey Everyone. First of all let me start off by thanking each and everyone of the people who have devoted so much time and effort into making it simple enough for your average dumbass like myself to tap into all the awesome features and bells and whistles of a rooted phone. I have one question if you dont mind me asking. I have now gotten my phone successfully rooted,I have ctmod, koumakernal 2.5 I believe. I am please dwith everything, this thing is amazing but the internal memory thing. I read carefully on how to then I proceeded to partition my sd card. It seemed like everything ran smoothly but when I look in " manage applications" it says I have 81mb used and 78mb free in my internal storage. And 603mb used and 816mb free on sd card storage. Im one of those guys that would like to have every app if I have the space to store them. Can anyone point me in the direction of what I can do about this. Once again thank to all involved with working on this stuff, I appreciate the ease of use for noobs like myself, but also it excites me because its a learning experience for me. Thank you all.:smokingsomb:
