Ok, I see where you said it restores youre sdext to the new card. So I will chose that one. Is there a book or something you would recommend for me?? I love this forum but I can't go through every comment to learn things. I've seen android for dummies, is that a good one?

Never even looked at it! LOL! Just read the titles on what you might want to do and then read into those threads. Then from there ask ?'s and people will point you in the right direction or help you out! That is all I can tell you!
Ok so I was wrong. More questions. Restored worked well. all my apps and setting are back. my internal storage shows the 2g I partitioned. I'm still having problems with apps freezing and taking long to open. I looked at my RAM and it says I only have 40mb free (actually it was less than that like .8mb at one time). Is this why the phone is freezing up and what can I do about it? The reason why I bought the 16g (10) was to speed up my phone. Doesn't seem any different. I don't have that many apps installed, maybe 25 and I have lots of internal storage left.

It doesn't have to do with how many apps you have installed. It has to do with how much RAM each app is running, and weather or not the app constantly runs in the background.
For example if you use Go Launcher (which uses a lot of ram), have the Facebook app installed (which uses a lot of ram AND is constantly running in the background even when you're not using it) and then try to play a game (like Words With Friends... which is another ram heavy app that constantly runs in the background) the phone tends to freeze. It just simply runs out of memory (not app space, but the random access memory)

Our custom kernel/rom we will be using has a handy feature that lets us turn a part of our SD card into internal memory. Since the phone itself barely has 200mb, this allows us to store tons more stuff. But first we must dedicate a piece of the card for that purpose.
Ok. Done the partioning and all the other stuff I was supposed to do (I think...pretty sure), but now I have Kouma Kernel that still does not move my apps to SD card???? What gives?? This was the whole reason I finally broke down and spent the time to try and understand and complete this process. I think I spent about 4 hours trying to make it through all this, so I can't imagine how long someone spent actually figuring all this stuff out! Kuddos to you!
Also, I HATE the keyboard I'm stuck with now! Anyone know how to get my old Swype keyboard back? My fat thumbs were not built for texting, but I had became fairly proficient at swyping. I think that was the best part of the original phone!

As far as the apps installing to the sdext, you have to go into koumamod and switch to /data mode.

Edit2- for some reason it adds androidforums to the beginning in browser view... from tapatalk it parses correctly. Its just beta.swype.com

First I wanted to say thanks for great directions. It made it really easy to root my phone. I ran into some SD card issues and it wouldn't boot (waited for +30 minutes). Getting a new card and hopefully that will solve this issue.
I wanted to follow up on super user access. I have two profiles listed now: CTSettings and Koumamod and have given both permanent su access. Is that correct or do they only need one time access?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Ok, so, I've gone through all of these steps. Huge thanks to everyone involved in this entire process! On that note, I *do* have a couple questions. First of all, can anyone explain to me why, before rooting my phone, I had full bars here at my house and never had a problem, yet now I have 1 bar after rooting? (How can I fix this?) Also, my battery meter says that I have 57% of my battery remaining, but when I go to the battery information, it says that I have *2 minutes 51 seconds* left, on over half the battery?? Thanks in advance for any help that I receive! *bows humbly*

Ctmod displays the signal bars differently than the stock rom. With the stock rom it won't even tell you when you're using 1x data speeds. It simply displays "3g" any time you have a data connection. Go to settings>about phone>status and look at the dBm. That is a digital display of your signal strength.
-65 = "perfect signal"
-120 = the definition of "no signal" (although the phone is basically unusable at -106)
If you were to flash back to stock (using Odin) and compare the the dBm between stock and ctmod I guarantee you would see similar, if not identical results.
As far as the battery stats go, try a reboot. Thus should reset your battery stats file and display the correct estimate

So, I *do* have a new issue though, that I hope someone can help me with. I've gotten both phones flashed and working. However, data is spotty at best, whether through the carrier or on our wireless network. At first, I could go to the internet and browse through pages fine. Then it just started not working at all. The little loading wheel or w/e will just sit there and spin and spin and nothing happens. When I rooted his phone, it did the same thing, loading fine at first, but then it went to doing the same thing as my phone. Any idea what causes this? Also, on his phone, he was trying to download an APK from the internet and no matter where he tries to get one from, it won't download. The little icon pops up on the status bar with the downloading arrow thing for just s plit second then disappears, but the phone never does anything? (Using the FF19 Rooted pack with the CTMod 3.75 Updated (says 3.80 on the background image))

I don't know about the data connectivity part, but have you checked to see if his sdcard is full? That would definitely prevent downloading.

I just got a prevail (used) but in excellent shape! I've previously rooted my old prevail 2 different times once with one click root and the last time via the Odin method! So I'm trying to dload the 64bit drivers and my peazip program unzips it & I click on setup.exe and it says some strange message windows disambiguation something? How do I properly install the drivers? It should be simple? Please help, thank u in advance!
