Root [Guide] How to install carrier blocked apps!!!

Step by step picture guide in post 13




For those who want to install apps such as CNN, 1weather, and others... Hurry before google blocks this methood...

It would be nice to get a list going of what people were able to install...


*Tip: You may want to clear data and defaults on browser and Market before doing this.

1. From your phone open the browser and head to http://market.android.com.
2. Search for “Google Wallet.”

*If your browser prompts you to open the Market, don’t. Just stay in the browser.

3. When the results come back, tap on the Google Wallet icon.
4. Tap the “Install” button from within the browser and then sign into your Google account.

*Again, this is all from the browser, not the Market app.

5. Once you have signed in, you should be redirected back to the Market page in the browser.
6. Obviously, you will not have the option to install there since the VZW Nexus is not supported.
7. Tap the back button until you are prompted for the Market or Browser again, this time choosing the Market.
8. The Android Market should open to the Google Wallet page with an option to install.


I verified that this does work for apps other than google wallet..

I wonder if this would work for Ipod apps? Im still not very familiar with this junk and must try 100 times just to get simple things to work. Either way, this sounds like It would be helpful for many people.
 
I tried this and at least wallet force closes I tried a few other things and I get FC or get can't find that app when going to market.

they are probably apps that really are incompatible
At least now we can download them to see what will run at our own risk

google wallet in going to fc because of the lack of nfc chip... This was to prove that the apps can be downloaded...

I was able to install google earth, but it doesn't work. I didn't expect it to, but I wanted to try out the steps outlined above... seems to work.

I tried it again with RedLaser, and the app and the steps work.
 
I wanted to try minecraft pocket edition but that is one that says it can't be found when I go to market. Anyone else try it yet?
 
Used the browser found it through market.android.com and then on the "final" step going back and choosing market the market says it is not found not hard to go through the browser to find it pretty simple steps.
 
Did not work for me. Market app said not compatible.

I was using Dolphin HD. Maybe the stock browser will work.

I will try Red Laser as I love that app and would love to get from Market.

Ya I tried Dolphin HD the first time and got the same results. Use the stock browser and it seemed to work for some of them at least.
 
Here is a tip you need to sign out after each attempt... I just had success with this with the flickr and red laser app... If you do it correctly when you finally go to the market it takes you straight to the permissions page... not the app incompatible pabe
 
Here is a pictoral guide for those having trouble. **Remeber Just because you can download an app doesnt mean that it will work correctly on our Prevails**

1. Open browser and navigate to market.android.com (Select complete action using browser) Make sure you are NOT signed into a google account



2. Search for app (compete using browser)



3. Select the Icon. (Complete using browser) You will be taken to this screen



4. Select Install. A pop up will appear.



5. Sign In. (Complete using browser)



6. A Pop up will appear. From here press the back button. (COMPLETE USING MARKET)



7. You will be taken directly to this screen.

Yup , it's working just fine . I've had this in the past but removed it because I never used it . Good to know it still works though , just in case .
 
I've been using it on and off for almost a year with little to no problems. I remember a few times it didn't work at first but it took eventually. After that I started clearing the cache on the market before I used Market Enabler and I haven't had a problem since.

Glad I could help. I think you can get other ones via the market, but you have to use ME to get them. Kind of a catch 22, lol.
