Root [Guide] How to root the Wildfire S with S-ON

When I put my phone into hboot mode it doesn't say locked or unlocked at the top. It just says like hboot-0.90.000000000 or something and some other stuff too.

Only dl stuff from trusted sites. Cwm gave me problems. So I installed twrp 2.2. It says GSM. Only but it works great on my marvelc.

Got twrp 2.3, still the same 3 problems. I'm going to try installing a custom rom, as well as doing something else to enable wi-fi. We'll see if it gets better after that.

I've spent the whole day trying to find a rom that should safely work for Marvelc, and can't find anything? Where ever I start, everything ends up saying it's just for Marvel, or is in development and still unstable. I just want a stable rom. I'm stuck at root. (Not recovery, but rom)

Anyone?

(I did start with the links in the original instructions, for Marvelc, and still getting nowhere)

Im using Zr0m you can get it here http://androidforums.com/wildfire-s-all-things-root/625916-rom-marvelc-zr0m.html
It hasn't given me any problems.

But I did manage to root my phone (as a first project! :D), installed a recovery, partitioned my sd card...but now...

I can't flash a custom rom.

Installed zip file to sd card - check.
Wipe cache and dalvik - check.
Boot into recovery, (twrp) hit "install" choose my rom (yes, it's definitely for marvelc, and I tried 2 diff ones), swipe to install, etc, and get a message "failed."

(Even tried Goo Manager. It says "no Goo Manager file" but there's totally one. It gets an error downloading the rom, and I even manually put a rom in the goo manager folder.)

Geez, I end up banging my head against my phone at every step.

Put zip on root of sd
boot into recovery(twrp)
Wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache
then install zip, reboot and wait( first boot takes a while) .

I did all that again, in that order, and tried with both rom's again. Still get red "failed" message. "E: Unable to open zip file. Error flashing zip "/sdcard/Zr0m"

I started with CWM, and used it for about four months before I switched to twrp. In your case, my advice is to install CWM for the purposes of getting through this process, then switch back to twrp once you're done.

ACK! Now it's saying that rom is bad, and can't install it.

E:Can't open \sdcard\Zr)m2.zip (bad)

Btw, I flashed clockwork, and then decided to try a version of Cyanogen I found that was supposed to work for Marvelc. Superuser wouldn't work so now I'm trying to flash Zr0m.

Try redownloading the rom.

If you want CM7, try BACKfire. The camera doesn't work but everything else does and it's wicked fast. I'll be posting a new one in the next day or two, it's sense based but about as desensed as it gets.

I'd love to, but I need the camera. I have a toddler. A cute one.

Ill upload my copy anf pm you the link:)

AND same thing. Something is up with my phone that it won't flash a rom. I'm dying to have this done with. Nobody told me when I decided to root that I was taking the red pill. :(

Try this, grab Rom Manager from the play store and use it to flash CWM. Reboot to the recovery and make a backup. Then make a backup. Yes, I know I said it twice, it's that important. Then go into mounts and storage and wipe everything (except SD card) twice. Then mount the system partition then try flashing the rom.

Already running CWM, although I flashed it through the command prompt.
Already backed up, repeatedly, and now nothing left in the phone to lose - Must've factory reset about 4 times yesterday alone.
So I followed all the steps, wiped everything twice, mounted system partition, then tried to flash the rom. Same response.

And now I can't get back out of the bootloader!

I've tried powering down through the bootloader, rebooting through recovery, even pulling the battery. I'm going out of town! Help, I need my phone!

Crisis averted, at least so it seems for now. Restored through recovery. So at least it seems to work for now.
