Root [GUIDE] Howto Root LG Motion 4G

if that doesnt work hopefully your under their allowed time to bring it back if not then lg warranty should cover it just lie

I've been good. Only deleted metro apps and under clocked to 810mhz. I'm surprised, as it feels the same as when it was 1.5ghz but my battery is way better.:D

That's good.

Also, I should have asked this earlier. If I'm just going to run the .bat file, do I still need install the System Backup Test apk?

well darn im stuck cause qpst wont open the phone called metro tried nam programing it and no results and in 5 days they will tell what i can do, darn i wish i can fix the test mode on it which I think thats what it has

Yes on your phone go to system back up open the app from there restart your phone after that go to your root folder on your pc and double click on run once thats done get root checker see if your rooted if so then you could delete the system backup app.

follow the directions here guys :D

Make sure you do not install those drivers in that forum to be safe have the one that comes with the phone i believe (when you plug in your device) installed instead.

how to root lg motion 4g metro pcs - YouTube

I am NOT the dev, just the messenger...kudos or problems with these are not mine...also as always bricking your phone is a possibility and your responsibility ... G'Luck

has anyone done this on Ubuntu linux? I can't get my phone to be recognized on any setting.

Also, this is the LG Motion 4g by Metro right? We're just using the optimums root guide?

^^^^^ and 2x^^^^^^

Edit: So far I have not been able to figure out a linux version because the phone will not get recognized, under any setting. It will straight charge through USB but only because the USB port has power to it.

I followed the instructions, and there is a video you can watch but read the instructions FIRST, the vid should help you because it leaves some things out.

I have a dool-booted laptop, and had to use Windows 7 to do this. One thing I did notice is that when runnning this app it automatically installs SuperSU where I usually use SuperUser.

Any reason to think that program that came during the root might not be safe. A simple update should fix any errors correct?

Ok, i had it rooted, and then I started deleting stuff and f***** it up. then I installed minecraft pocket addition now it won't come off in the ads keep coming up. now I'm trying to route again to just get rid of that 1 program and it won't allow me to. Keeps saying /data/local.prop, no such directory found. anybody have a clue what's going on now

It's awesome you guys found a root so quickly. I doubt I'll root mine though because I was able to uninstall most bloat via Application Manager (the main reason I rooted my OM), freeze other unwanted things, and the battery gets pretty good life.

I like most of the stock features so I don't feel a need to trick it out with custom themes/roms.

Are there any benefits to rooting aside from those I mentioned?

okay so I got minecraft pocket addition of my phone. the root was finally successful. has anyone figured out which apps are completely safe to delete yet

There's several reasons. Top of my list is being able to run adfree. Ability to back apps up. Build prop tweaks. IPtable firewall. Knowing that you are cooler than everyone else lol :-P.

Plenty more but those are probably most important to me.

Ability to change bootanimations/bootsounds, ability to run ROOT only capable apps, ability to screenshot without LG's watermark....I don't like the watermark. Ability to place apps in /system/app to run as a system app....root lets you do a lot, and whatever you do to accidentally soft brick can easily be resolved ;)

Yes...The same happened to me after I did the cmd thingy. I factory reset and repeated the process. I hear double click on root works easier.

Oh i got it now. If your camera dont work after root just do a factory reset. You will still be rooted and camera works.

Awesome. It didn't work the first time, so I rebooted and tried it again and it worked. Ads begone and welcome new boot animation. Also, saving apks of downloaded apps.

Hi Guys

I tired to do the root as shown on video but my camera does not work anymore (front and back camera). Is there anyway to do a factory reset? Please help.
