Root [GUIDE] Howto Root LG Motion 4G

You have to have the drivers installed correctly. The best and most trusted way to get/update it is to go to lg.com and find the lg motion and go to support. When ur thier install the drivers or update them. After that plug the phone into the computer. It should start installing drivers, don't do anything till its complete. Then follow the root guide.

Is it okay to use a newer version of the drivers than are in this guide?

Well I am sure you could because the guys on this thread are amazing and trustworthy. I'm sure they wouldn't put a dead link in the thread. I used the root method that the YouTube video showed. I didn't use the root on this thread to root my phone. But you can use any root method u prefer.

Okay... hours later... 10+ PC reboots 20+ phone reboots... 5 re-installs of everything later... all I had to do was move the USB wire to a different port and it works... WTF! Thank you for all of your help! You guys rock!!!!!

ever root the LG Motion? At the last moment before the rooting, I am asked to enter my device encryption code. No Idea what that is, or where to find it. seems to be an attempt by LG to prevent rooting. Am I missing something? Thanks

Nevermind... found my answer.

Nevermind my nevermind... I'm AM stuck..When I run the root batch file it give me the first two lines and then nothing else...

* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *

I've noticed each time I plug it in, the ballon that pops up down by the system tray says that it failed to install the drivers.

I've tried un/re-installing IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk

I've tried un/re-installing the drivers.
I've found the more up to date drivers on LG's website, and tryed it.

I'm running Windows 7. What else do you guy suggest? What other info do you need from me?

Look in the LG Motion 4g all things root guide, there is a link to a topic called What to do if Root Fails, read that thread, it is exactly what you are looking for

So, I'm in mid-root right now. I've got the command prompt open and it says

* daemon started successfully *

But it's been about 10 minutes at least and it hasn't done anything else. No files have been pushed, the phone has not reset, and I'm afraid to unplug or start over or do anything else. Any advice?

Install drivers, you can unplug. It won't break anything. After installing drivers, try rebooting PC.

Will this method work with Windows XP pro 32 bit? I run Linux, but I keep a copy of XP lying around. I am referring to the method that got this post started. Thanks. :D

Hi guys, I'm new to these forums, and this is also my first time attempting to root a phone. Everything went well until the command prompt part, and i keep getting this same message (I've tried 4 or 5 times). If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

I got the exact same failure on Win 7 Ultimate (no busybox etc), lost root and su on OTA update awhile back, didn't need again until I checked and TiBU wasn't working without it. When first connecteed to PC, phone was MTP/media mode, swtiched to Charge only, ran script, got exact same as TheOneMan Army... rebooted phone (not PC), ran script again, worked fine (didn't need admin priveleges).

So, I have a Windows 8, I installed the drivers, put the ox4r in the right place, downloaded and installed the signed test apk and I tried to follow steps, but I get the first two lines multiple times
"* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *"
i reinstalled the drivers, rebooted the pc and the phone multiple times, and i think i messed up to the point where bluetooth, chrome, and any video player is all black with sound. I need help to fix this problem.
