[Guide] Move more (most) apps to SD without root (Simplified)

Follow the process again, but instead of "pm setInstallLocation 2" use "pm setInstallLocation 0"
Thanks for reply.

Anyone have an answer for my other question?

If and how it will affect any apps that run as services in the background, that sync and/or use push?

No it wouldn't stop the apps functioning.

Anything that runs in the background as a service or at startup including widgets should not be moved to sd

I get stuck when its says Then Type "adb shell" and press enter

The response I get is error: device not found

My phone is connected and I can get to it.

Yes it needs the Samsung drivers then but I can't help beyond that.

Maybe create a thread in your device forum linking here asking for help

I tried with "pm", it is the same problem..
I have :

$ pm setInstallLocation 2
pm setInstallLocation 2
$

And after.. nothing.

I don't inderstand the problem.
Can you help me?

Tanks

i am terribly sorry but i am not that good at doing all this stuff with the command prompt and have a hard time understanding everything... when i opened the command prompt i typed Start > Run "Cmd" and ACCESS DENIED popped out or something ... i need help : (

No thats how you open the command prompt.

This means go to Start and then select Run in the menu. In the "Open" dialogue field of teh run option, type cmd. That is how you get to command prompt.

I have an HTC desire and need to use my SD card for app storage as the phone has only 6mb left and the sd card has 7.9GB, but the appstore just wants to install on the phone and gives insuffisient space error. So I came here and found this thread, but I cannot get past step 1. I have htc sync installed on my PC but the phone will not find it so I cannot sync.

Any ideas anyone? This is very frustrating for an old man with only a little technical savvy.

Many thanks in advance - Tog.

Step 1 says nothing about syncing the phone.

This guide is literal and leaves nothing unmentioned. Step 1 says "download and install", therefore all you do in step 1 is.... download and install :)

Ok I am now being driven mad. I changed the save destination just fine. Then installed apps2sd (which went to sd), I started off with 20mb of space before this process. Moved 2 apps (the only ones it allowed) and now have 15mbs free, and now it tells me I have low internal space. This phone is only a week old and driving me bonkers.

Well,I've bored from not being able to do the things written in da instruction. And men posting their problems and then quick replying "Oh,God,it's worked thanks!" So if we will follow the steps like in the instruction,ma problem is in command prompt
So,when i'm coming to the 5th step -
***Type "cd\android-sdk-windows\tools" and press enter (or platform-tools if you have adb in there) *** this is going normal, and there:
***Then Type "adb shell" and press enter*** is the problem part - when i'm typing adb shell,it's coming *** daemon not running.starting it now on port 5037*** and ***daemon started succesfully***and ***error:device not found
Hope , you'll tell me the solution

Error device not found means it cannot see that your device is connected. If it definitely is connected then something went wrong with the HTC sync part. Is HTC sync running at the time? You could uninstall HTC sync from control panel, but just make sure drivers are left on there.

Thanks a lot. Its refusing to all updates do to "variant software" already installed, even from factory reset. This phone is nothing but trouble, Ive only had it 3 weeks and its my biggest mistake yet. And HTC support is crap.

Ok, so i don't know what to do about the device drivers. I have a Samsung galaxy prevail so i looked through the Samsung website and found the downloads for my device but they're all user manuals. Any help? Do i really need the drivers?
