so u think eh? i don't want to mess up anything cuz everything has been good so far except step 13, but i managed to get the results that were needed. so u think i should unmount the card? and to do this, just go to the settings and unmount, correct? someone said earlier to do it from your notification bar and not thru the settings. why not the settings if they are performing the same action?

I'm assuming you're back on the main screen of the phone, that it's booted up.
Not sure why it doesn't show up in the notification bar, must be a setting you've changed or that never got changed lol. Doing it through the settings is exactly the same as through the notification bar, it's just that everyone does it through the notification bar lol.
Although (and I'm more talking to myself here than anything), if you managed to push the recovery file to the SD card, it probably won't matter. Then again, I bet the phone has to read the image from the SD card at that point, and if it's mounted it can't read it.

Haha, yeah, I had to type out what I was thinking to see if it made sense.

I've had the 2.0.1 ROM from Darchstar on for a day and a half...and the battery life has been way too bad for me. I only got 12 hours out of it yesterday. And there's still a few bugs that are annoying me.
I'm hoping the 2.1 ROM from him will take off soon, and be as close to fully working as possible, at which point I'll go to it. Until then, I want to go back to Fresh 1.1 again, but I think I'm going to have to RUU to get my backups to work lol.

eh..i got an error message.
"error opening recorvery-RA-heroc-v1.5.2.img: No such file or directory"
should i go ahead and mount my card so it could recognize it? the how to process doesn't state anything about unmounting once your phone is rebooted after step 15. wha do u think?

After step 5, the card doesn't need to be mounted again.
If you copied right from the CMD prompt, you typed "recovery" wrong: recorvery

And RUU is "radio unit upgrade", it basically puts your phone back to bone stock, with no traces of rooting.

so once the phone is rebooted, even tho it doesn't say it, u have to unmount ur card on start up? it is mounted once the phone restarts, and if one were to continue the steps without thinking to check to see if the card is still mounted, wouldn't that cause further errors? sighhhhh

Ok, make sure USB debugging is ON in your settings.
I'm about to root my phone again, so I'll check it for sure.
Just make sure everything you typed is spelled right. one little mistake in spelling can screw up the process...I make at least 3 mistakes every single time I've rooted lol

Looks more like it needs to be unmounted before even entering any commands. Step 5 is before you even make any changes to the phone other than putting the recovery image on your card

okay so i was trying to copy and paste the cmd to u and i wasn't sure if i did it right. i selected "select all" within the cmd prompt and all it did was highlight everything, but didn't give me the option to copy it. so without further thinking, i just decided to paste "flash_image recovery recovery-RA-heroc-v1.5.2.img" but instead, it copied the whole cmd!! so now i'm like wtf..and scared lol..
you said you're about to root your phone again..is my phone rooted so far since i'm at step 15?? and since i messed up my cmd completely, should i start all the way over!?!?
or, is there an easier way to get to the same step i was at? gotta be at work in an hour and thirty min

lol, you can try starting over, it shouldn't take too long. I'm at the same step you're at, and getting an error about "out of memory", which is odd...never gotten that one before

sigh..so ur using the same steps that this thread has? and i'm copying and pasting everything as it says. guess i'll start over. this sucks...but i guess it's worth it??!!

yup, exact same steps, and they've worked a couple times before.
And it's most certainly worth the hassle, or I wouldn't be doing it again

Ok, before i start, it's safe to say that when i return to step one, it isn't tampering with anything within my phone or sd card? i mean should i remove anything or add anything before i start the process again?

It's not tampering with anything...that can't be fixed with the RUU program
I had that error about not enough memory, and switched USB ports on my computer, and started all over just re-entering the code. Didn't reset anything, just went back to step 6 (opening the command prompt) and started entering code. Looks like it worked this time

Well, I don't have Fresh back on yet. I'm REALLY hoping this backup will work, because I put a lot of time into customizing Fresh...we'll see in a couple minutes, it's rebooting now, and if it gets off the HTC logo, I'll be happy lol....
