Root hardware issue might affect root and waranty

Ok so I was at the championship football game for my school, (we won 27-0 GO BARACUDAS!!!) and as I was trying to take a picture of the team, some kid bumped into me and I dropped my phone flat on the screen... </3 now it has an enormous crack on the screen... And since I'm rooted can I still take it to sprint and have them replace it since it a hardware issue

How much of the screen can you see? Are you able to navigate?

If your going to take it in for warranty repairs your going to need to unroot.

that will be purely on the tech that you talk to. the guy at my sprint store is pretty cool about being rooted and as long as it is a hardware issue and not from software corruption done by being rooted then you should be ok. but it will depend on the person.

Just some thoughts, I don't know the real answer to your question.

does big crack mean you can't get it turned on and unroot it?

seems like some folk know sprint techs who will let rooted phones go, seems like some techs use any excuse not to honor warranty.

There are some videos and directions on how to replace the screen, and one I saw seemed to be from a company that might actually do repairs as well.

Well I can still navagate through the screen perfectly but I just hate having this crack on my phone. The reason I want to replace is in a rush is because this evo is my primary phone, my first android phone and just my favorite lol.

Yeah I hear you there. I'm glad your still able to navigate though, that will make things much easier if you find you need to unroot it.

just to be on the safe side i would unroot your phone before taking it in. unless you know the tech person then you mught not have to. also i heard of people just flashing the stock rom and took it in with no issues. but, since you can navigate on the screen i would unroot. up to you though.

Yeah I think ill just flash a stock ROM and take it in for service
