No, the apple product will drop calls, even in good reception areas. Anyone can reproduce that, and hundreds of people have by making videos online.

Apple proved that the droid x won't drop a call using their secret tin-foil death grip. If you missed it, they had a call going on the whole time, and it never dropped.
 
Apple. What a joke. They're only doing what is common these days- lie. Lie because people who want to believe will believe, and everyone else can go to hell.
 
This is laughable.... I cant lose signal with both hands wrapped around, I can't loose signal if I cover it with a pillow. I can however make it lose signal with a Signal Jammer I have that makes it loose signal about as fast as that video. Its shameless that Apple would go to such lengths to make little movies about all these PDA's to try and show that it happens to EVERy phone... What bull tactics, i'm surprised Motorola doesnt sue for false representation.

Oh trust me I know iPhone's drop calls like mad on AT&T. I used an iPhone for about a year. I used one for a while on T-Mobile as well and had no dropped calls, so I blame AT&T. I didn't use an iPhone 4 so I can't comment there, but all I'm saying is that basically all phones drop bars and it doesn't do anyone any good to think that Apple's the only one. I agree their product design didn't take this into account. A friend with an iPhone 4 and I tried to do the deathgrip in a high signal area and couldn't make the bars drop. However, even with "full bars" the call dropped. I still blame AT&T. Anywho I don't worry about dropped calls with VZW and my X thank god, I just think it's BS to act like ours is perfect theirs is sh**.

They did the "test" while in an active call.

Either way, I'm calling some sort of BS on this. Apple just needs to admit they finally made a mistake and they're not the perfect god-like people they've tried to lead people to believe over the past many years.

False i have shitty reception in my basement and i gripped the phone about every which way and it wont drop a single bar
 
wow. apple is stooping so low.

I have been a loyal fan of the iphone for roughly a year now, but even my 3gs started having issues.

With the way they are treating the public and their customers, I have defected to droid/verizon.

Out of curiosity, i tested my droidx yesterday before seeing the video: no signal drop for me.

today, i tested again trying to mimic their grip, still no signal drop.

if you cover the top near the "motorola", your wifi signal WILL drop tho. Mine drops from 5 to 2 bars.
 
I saw this and laughed my ass off. I actually made a status update on Facebook about this. Rather than post my facebook info, here it is:

Dear Steve Jobs. Thank you for posting the latest video of the droid x losing signal when you grip it in a certain way. I mean come on. The next video is going to be of you shoving a phone up your ass and then claiming your intestine is not registering the call cause you had it set to vibrate. Maybe you can do it with an EVO so you can get that full 4.3 love. Don't lube ..

Steve just does not give up. Not sure if most users have heard of the "Reality Distortion Field," but that is Steve's charisma deluding people. The last time you saw a blatant example of this is when Alec Guinness in the original Star Wars waived his hand and said "These are not the droids you are looking for." Then again, this predates apple so I suppose Steve is just a closet Jedi at heart.

I have been an Apple user since 1979. I will never own and iphone or an ipod. Over priced. Sorry.

I recommend hitting up Amazon and ordering a copy of the book "The Second Coming of Steve Jobs" to understand the history of Apple and Steve.
 
The best part of the demonstration is that every phone Apple compared their iPhone with always started with full bars, and then dropped one or two bars. The iPhone never started with full bars - ever. LOL. Bad form Mr. Jobs, bad form indeed.

lol that banned iphone commercial owns. also i cant make my bars drop on my droid x. i think my hands are not big enough

I can tell you this was not blown out of proportion. I returned my iPhone4 and got the Droid X.

The iPhone had a serious issue with the signal loss. I was dropping every other call with it. So far with the Droid I have had zero dropped calls.

Sure all phones may drop some bars when holding it, but it doesn't cause you to drop the call.

Apple's issue is way more serious than a normal drop in bars from holding it. They are just trying to cover it up as much as they can.
