Well...it appears that patience may pay off in this instance. Frisco...will you really root a phone after such apprehension with waiting for an official build of 2.1?
I hope that this pans out...it stands to reason that a root may soon be found for the leaked and/or official OTA as well.

While rooting the 1.5 appears to be an exciting endeavor, with nearly unlimited possibilities for configuration, I'm nearly certain I'll remain satisfied with the OTA upgrade when it arrives, rather than rooting my 1.5.
Having said that, I'll most certainly be reading postings from those who are rooting their Erises. I find the whole thing very interesting.

We will have to see what happens, 2.1 may not be far behind if the exploit has not been discovered by HTC . There are also folks working on the roll back issue. If not, may be having some weird intermittent issues with my phone.

Well...the way I see it...root is most likely found so now the devs can concentrate on one effort rather than a split effort between 2.1 and 1.5. I'm sure rollback will get a lot of attention as well.

yea they will keep working on 2.1 because a few of the dev's have 2.1 phones already, as for the rooted rom they are still working on it.....not being a techy I have no clue about most of what they are saying on IRC

Yea I'll get my new/refurbished Eris tomorrow.I'll have to make a big decision. I've never rooted before but it sounds like I'll love it more Dthan leaked 2.1. Will we be able to have live backgrounds?

I would say it will be the minority off of a few geek forums. Most people won't even know let alone care about rooting. So a small minority total.

Wow! Awesome job dev team! But damn, just damn for me. I'm still lovin me some of this leaked 2.1, but would have much rather preferred root. The leaked 2.1 dialer is really starting to anger me.
