Have You Seen Others Use Android Forums?

Destroying Balls Everyday
I'd say out of the 1 1/2 years that I've been on this great site, I've only seen one other person use it. It was during class back at IU, but I was afraid to go up to him to talk about it because I was worried that he would be someone that I absolutely despise (there's a very high probability since I despise the vast majority of you :p)

I'm new here but I also only know one other person who uses this site. He's the one who introduced me to Android Central. Although I know many people who use Android and love it, they don't seem to find the need to engage in a community like this. :(

I never have, most of my friends say I'm such a huge nerd for spending so many hours here on a daily basis. It might be weird/annoying knowing someone though.

A friend of mine from my high school days (whom I haven't seen in 16 years) was browsing these forums and saw "novox77." He PM'd me and asked me if it was the same novox he knew from HS.

Glad to see he turned out to be a phandroid instead of an iFan.

We're everywhere. I've put my Evo on the bar while traveling, had people chat about the local brew or what was good to eat - and have run into a member or three here.

Because this forum is so big, I thought at least a few people I knew would be a part of it too but I guess it's just me for now. i have yet to find someone I know who is wiling to spend time on a forum because of their phone. haha

I don't know anyone who frequents this site. My best friend joined just to comment on a thread I started, but hasn't used it since. It would be cool if we had a get together, but I doubt it would happen.

I semi-converted someone in my school from an iphone to an Android and showed them all the help and info they could receive here. Also showed a current Android owner this site after they saw me browsing it in class.

I have not in my world but usually I recommend a.f. to people I know that have android phones...whether or not I know they come here is beyond me... I love it here.. Great advice and guidance plus tips

Not really. Its easier to get hold of me than ask for help in the forum.
Ironically they think xda is better at dishing advice .
So I do know xda members but not af .

I know people with Androids and got three people to join (and that's all they've done). I guess people I know don't share the same enthusiasm for the little green man as I do.

When the Droid Landing promotion for the Droid X was in Nashville, TN, I mentioned Android Forums to a few of people while we were standing around after the contest. Two of them confessed they were lurkers so I prompted them to join in the conversation any time because everyone was so helpful and easy going here.

We were standing around cause the guy that found it was under 18. The Verizon reps called legal and they said no. They had a random drawing from the 1st 6 people after the boy to arrive because they all arrived at the same time.

I don't know anyone in real life who even owns an android phone... go figure. Everyone's got iPhones.

Wow that's crazy, even though I don't live at home surprisingly everyone of my family members has an android phone. Both my parents, step parents, and all of my 7 brothers, and sisters have one. I only know two people that own an iPhone, and the rest have Android, or Blackberry.

It's weird that this thread came up yesterday, after making my first post I was taking a train downtown. While on the train I noticed an older gentleman using the Phandroid app, and looking at the forums. So I decided to strike up a conversation with him, and it was actually a really cool experience. The weird part is, this is a guy I have sent/received PM's from asking for root help. These days he's addicted to it, and I still see him around the forums. :)

It's really strange meeting someone that you have talked to, but never met.

To most people I know who have Android devices, it's simply a plastic box that does stuff and makes phone calls. Only one of my coworkers actually goes on XDA to find mods and such.

That's cool that the world is so big, yet is so small.

The moderator staff are just memories of the Fayth, based on people who actually lived a thousand years ago in Zanarkand. We're here to do battle with Sin, which usually manifests itself as off-topic posts and rude members.

Final Fantasy X reference for those scratching their heads.

I know one person that uses AF. He's a Bell rep that I befriended. We were debating which OEM phones have Gyroscope in the hardware. To end the debate, he logged onto AF and searched for the answer. I didn't tell him that I moderated for AF....way too embarrassing. lol I know a few other members that lived close to each other and met up :)

Actually, there was a Phandroid Live Event in New York City this year. A few of the moderators met up with each other. Steven58, TwoSpirit and some other people.

haha, that's more than a coincidence, that's fate ;) I've chatted up with a few gentlemen when I was on the train :) This was when Android wasn't as popular and the people I talked to were more tech enthusiasts so they are fun to talk to. Now everyone seems to have an Android phone but knows nothing of it. My colleague got a Nexus S, and she kept referring to it as the 'Google phone'. She thought Google made the phone :(

I know how that is, I've met several people that thought there was only one Android phone. I asked a friend what phone they have and they said "I have the droid" so i asked "which one?" and they told me "The only droid phone, duh!!"

They actually owned a Mytouch 3G, and thought it was the only one. >.<
