Having A Blast With My Evo Camera

orbitz781

Newbie
It was my first real day off of work without it being rainy outside so I got a chance to play around with the camera features on the phone, Thought I should share since some people are curious of the photo quality, Overall I am definitely satisfied. I actually handed off my DSLR to my boyfriend and spent the day shooting with the Evo!

Yeah, I took a few pictures and was super satisfied, too. It may not have the best video quality, but pictures are excellent.

Great looking pics. Now I'm just waiting for member Reemas to come in here and call the camera garbage and paste a link to his iPhone vs Evo video post.

its only a matter of time :) 10 internetz says he plays it down because its in daylight

orbitz, those are great pics, thats about as great as i can ask for on a cell phone

I have found the app called Inserty to be a useful adjunct to the camera. I use it to generate captions (e.g., when uploading a photo to Facebook). Inserty lets you paste in either pre-written text strings or ones based on time and location such as this metadata:

Date: 6/23/2010. Location: yy.yyyy N, xx.xxxx W. Camera: HTC Evo 4G.

P.S. Don't forget to turn on geotagging in the camera settings so that lat/lon can get included in the JPEG file metadata.

Thanks Everyone :] Haha by the way this was with no adjustments really to the settings it was all automatic so really this is good to see the best possible performance conditions.

Haha yea that train track runs through several towns and I basically spent the day following it and having fun testing out my phone like a common nerd :P

lol that is definitely nerdy but adorable :)

I would post some of the pictures i took of myself on my evo but i dont want to cause any problems lol.

I made that mistake before in the pre forums and it caused drama lol

The pictures i took both inside in low light, in the bathroom with brighter lights and outside were all so good on the EVO.

it does have a really good camera, for the most part

I think we should all post our best photos we took with our Evo so far or just create an Evo photo thread. In the past this may have been pointless but as stated, the camera is pretty good and an image thread might encourage our fellow Evo users to share their images.

Ah what a great idea! We should have a thread for photos, I think that would be awesome :] I will have some more up soon of a concert I'm going to tomorrow and hopefully the camera beats out other camera phones I've brought out to shows.

question: how did your battery life do while using the camera? I'm planning to take a lot of pictures on Sunday but will also be away from a charger most of the day... might just bring my point and shoot to make sure my phone doesn't die before i get home :-/...

Well I took it off the charger at 9am, and was shooting photos from about 11-3 heavily and then played around on the internet a bit throughout the day and once I was back home and ready to charge again the phone still have 40% left :]

Sprint is now selling a universal ac charger that has it's own battery built in, so even away from a plug you can still charge your phone. They retail for 40 bucks but with the premier thing I got it for 30. Not sure how much of a charge it will replace, but surely it'll help.
