Having A Blast With My Evo Camera

I honestly didn't even know the camera had custom settings till I took a few photos but just having enough light is a big plus. The same rules apply when it comes to ISO setting. It would be better to have enough light so that you don't have to use the higher ISO settings which sometimes produce noisy image effects as you see when shooting in dark areas on Auto ISO where the camera is automatically choosing a high ISO to pick up more light. I rarely ever use the LED lights but I am going to try a few tricks with it to soften it's lighting effect for some portraits and I will share them next week. I haven't had a need to do manual white balance yet.
 
Does anyone have any tweaks for nightime/low light picture taking? The flash is amazingling bright but my pics look washed out big time. Granted I usually don't careabout the camera on a phone but I am just curious about any setting combinations that would help.
 
all these pix look great, my challenge to you all is great indoor shots :D outdoor the evo is fine but indoor puts the quality to the test.

I had to ask also because the images were square. Well I want to answer the previous posters challenge with unedited images to showcase that the camera is capable of good images prior to editing but I may also share some edited ones later too.

The white balance works fine on the Evo for my taste. The above image from munsterrr of the beer can came out really nice ... and that's from someone who doesn't drink :)
 
I was reading an article in a photography magazine a month ago that was considering Iphone photography a unique and legit blossoming sub genre of photography which some professionals were backing. Kind of the same way old special effects toy cameras have their following along with classics like the Lomo or the Pearl river TLR. I never owned an Iphone but I can see the appeal to use this type of photography for personal work and inspiration when on the go.

With good light the EVO camera is amazing, but anything past ISO 200 is pretty much a hail mary, noise ramps up, and it just becomes a grainy mess, especially in the shadows. It's nothing against the camera really, just a limitation of the medium as a whole. Though that is a thought, running Evo files through Noise Ninja..... hrms....
 
I've gotta say, the outdoor shots are primo quality. Crisp and clean lines, smooth curves and the ability to pick up extremely fine details - like the curls of smoke off a cigarette! - is unprcedented for a CELLPHONE camera.

However, the indoor shots still have that over-saturated look that I've come to expect from a low-/mid-end digital. For a cellphone, it's pretty good; but I'd still use a dedicated SLR/D-SLR camera instead for scrapbooking or more permanent storage.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be using this as soon as I get my full rebate available, but just as a quickiie-cam for the most part. It's definitely the cellphone-version of a Polaroid.
