HDMI Cable that will eat your wallet

My dad bought two $2 dollar class 2 HDMI cable from Amazon yesterday for our new Blu-Ray player and Samsung OLED TV. Who would pay 2 grand for a cable anyway?

The comment reviews are hilarious too. Some of those comments are probably employee of the company that made the cable or Best Buy them-self... lol... The comment by reviewer Posted by: IvannaH is the only one that look legit...

I may just be an idiot but does it not say hdmi cable white? The picture is a black cable. You expect to sale a cable for $2200 but can't even get the pic/description right? Like I said maybe I'm just an idiot...

"What's great about it: Nice color, Super cheap"

Yeah, right.

Why does that thing cost so much anyway? I still don't get why people buy expensive HDMI cables, there is no such thing as "signal quality" with HDMI.

Is that correct? Surely there must be a difference between a cheap HDMI cable and an expensive one? Surely it must influence quality in some way?

I remember years ago reading something relating to speaker cables, that said having a good amp and/or CD player but cheap cables was like drinking fine wine out of paper cups. And elsewhere, a little less poetically but perhaps more strikingly, that having high quality cables was more likely to improve the quality of a stereo than having a better amp.

Is it not the same thing?

That said, I have cheap cables.

It's not really the same thing. HDMI is digital. Basically you're shoving 1s and 0s in one end, you get exactly the same 1s and 0s out of the other end, no matter what the price of the cable.

BTW I've also seen hideously overpriced ethernet cables as well. Same thing here as with HDMI.

Speaker and audio cables are analogue. Which means the shape of the signal can be affected by having very cheap poor quality cables, and so the sound is degraded. So the quality of the cables can be quite important here, especially if one is using top-notch equipment.

Mikedt is right... since HDMI cables are digital cables and not analogue it doesn't matter the price of the cable as long as the cable gets the signals from 1 end to the other 1s and 0s that's all that matters. You'll still get the same image quality on a $2 HDMI cable compare to 2 grand cable... Only difference is the quality of the cable and the way the cable is shielded to prevent interference. You should never pay this much for a cable.

The reviews were hillarious!!! I was trying not to laugh too hard since I'm at work. And like stated above an HDMI cable is an HDMI cable no matter how much you pay for it. It's amazing to me the people who are suckered into buying these cables. A good majority of my friends look to me for help when purchasing technology and one of the first things I would tell them is not to get suckered on hdmi cables. As long as it's rev 1.3 you're good to go.

Yeah Im surprised no one linked monoprice yet HDMI Cable
6ft cables for $3.04, $2.91 is you buy more than one and they colored too if you want more than just black

The reviews were hilarious. I particularly enjoyed this one

For many years I have always struggled with 39' cables, but not anymore!
I was going to purchase yet another unsatisfactory Dynex cable for under $20.00, but then I spotted this gem.
Can you imagine.....an extra .4 feet!!! Fuzzy and blurred images are a thing of the past, and the sound quality you experience with the Dialectric-Bias system is amazing...and I don't even know what that is, but it sounds pretty fancy to me.....and that's enough!
The description says it's white in color, but they didn't fool me....it's coffee colored! Audioquest, you guys are silly!
This cable also features long grain copper, which is much better than the short grains of cheaper cables....kinda like rice! I love long grain rice.
I had to sell a sorely missed kidney to purchase, but with this kind of quality....I'll just drink less. Thanks Audioquest!

Although this HDMI cable has nothing on this bad boy

Holy shiizznit. I just downloaded their catalog and they have an Analog Audio interconnect cable (65 feet) that retails for $52,800.00 ... LMAO

all they need to do is stay afloat for a few months, get a couple poor saps to actually buy there crap then they can fade into the abyss and do it again later, only next time they will pop up selling the best toilet paper in the world. will use bi electric rolls to make sure it zaps the dingleberries straight off your ass and never leave a skid mark again. price will be 780 a roll for single ply, 10k for two ply, and your first born son for ultra soft three ply.
