Hey there dude! :)

Welcome to the forums!

Hmm do you have an 8th Generation Archos device or the 7th Generation device?

Here for ease of reference:

Archos - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you want an Android 2.2.1 update for the Gen 8 devices (like my 32 IT) then look here:

http://www.archos.com/support/support_tech/updates.html?country=za〈=en
Or just go to archos.com and go to "support & account" ---------> "Downloads"

To perform the update transfer the firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos file into the "root" of ur Gen8 Archos and keep it plugged in to ur PC and go to "Charge Only" and not mount. It does not want to be mounted for some reaon whilst updating i found this out.

And select update or whatever it's called can't remember right now... and it will do the rest for you!

Here is a video for OTA (Over the air) for a Gen 8 device if you are connected to wifi which should be very easy to do let me know if you need help with that too:

Private Message me if you have a problem dude / duette!

And yes Archos is the best totally by Henri Crohas!!

Allez France!! :)

Keep well

If you have the Archos 7 "Home Tablet", then you are most likely not going to see a software update beyond Android 1.5 (at least not from Archos). :(

If there is a stable release beyond 1.5, I'll be shocked. There just doesn't seem to be enough interest and developer support for the Gen 7 devices.

I had purchased the Archos 7 HT for my children and exchanged them for NookColor e-readers. The $50 price increase for each of them was well worth the additional functionality. I hate to tell you this but in my opinion...the Archos 7 HT is not really functional as a "tablet". If you use it as a personal media player, then it will work well for you...but as a tablet, it is really lacking (and being limited to Android 1.5 is a big part of the problem).
