Root Hello-Goodbye :(

sammyz

LG Whiz Kid
I was trying to inject CWM into the ZV5 bin and well.....I am permanently bricked. :( I just recently got this phone too :/ now I'm done with it. Sorry that this happened. I will still help out people who have soft bricked phones, but I no longer have this phone to do anymore with it. And if I say it's perma bricked, then it IS permanently bricked. I'll go sell it for parts and see if I can get enough paypal money to replace it though (I'm sure the most I get will be $5....). I only need either a cheap optimus U, S, or V (About $30-$40). Or if you want to donate, you can here.

You don't have to donate, it was my fault. All I did was make unbrick methods that didn't exist before anyways. Kind of ironic, lol. It will be hard for me to contribute anymore though. So I will go back to porting OV ROMs to the OM and ask for donations there. I got to do all I can to try and get another V/S/U (they're all the same). I love this community and all the support the OV has, which is why I bought this phone to begin with. I don't want to leave, at least not because of a bricked phone. I was planning on using this phone for another 5 years at least and contribute as much as I could. If you want to donate, I'm not asking for much....$1 is good enough. I will update this thread with the total I have so that I don't get more money than needed. If you can't donate then don't.

Thanks in Advance.

Total: Met goal. Someone just sent me an LS670. :D

I know where you can get ALL the info you need to help you with your OV...
Android Central Forums/ LG Optimus V Rooting, ROMS & Hacks. There is TONS of info
to help with that bricked OV. Read LeslieAnn's stickies at the top of the forum. They WILL
save your butt with this phone.

..... Lol Sammy wrote the ultimate unbricking guide that is stickied on Android Central and could unbrick under most NORMAL circumstances. He tried to insert a custum recovery into the firmware bin (highly dangerous and experimental) but it was a failed attempt that borked it up beyond repair.

Let me get this straight nannycrick:
1. You don't think this site/forum has the info that will help people.
2. You must think that the members here don't know how to help those that are having trouble with there phones.
3. You must think we are pretty stupid over here and don't know how to find the info to help others with their problems.

Is that pretty much what you have posted?
Have you looked in the All Things Root Guide sticky?

No one site has all the answers. The members here have some, the members at XDA have some, and still others at Android Central have some. Etc., Etc.

The smart and compassionate members that we are over here know not only how to help, but how to find the correct info that will help. Weather the info be here or on some other site.
So, before you go posting in this forum such antagonistic thought's and ideas, you might want to have all the info. That's what a smart person would do.
Tell me, are you smart!

Wow am I glad I didn't test this for sammyz. I don't know If I would have gotten the same feedback if I had bricked my phone.

I've unbricked a ton of phones -_- I know when a phone is permanently bricked. I made every single kind of unbrick method that fixes any brick that Leslie's cannot. If I cannot unbrick the phone, no one can. Not even LG. They replace motherboards on these kinds of bricks. It's called a permanent brick for a reason (aka hard brick). Thank you for not reading the OP that's crossed out for a reason.

... Back on another note.... Glad to see you are getting a replacement. You've helped tremendously in the community and it'd be a sad day to see you go. See you around ;)

Hey, look at it like this, now that you've got the Optimus S (either already have it, or soon to have) you can start working on the S side of the firmware/patch stuff :p
Whenever I'm not helping Zackman out on his JellyBean port, I'm working on the versatility of my patches, or finding things to add to 1 of the 3 dual sets of patches I've got.
I've yet to try out another phone's rom (outside of the Optimus V/S) on the v with my patches.
If I can find out a complete list of phones that are related to the V (on a hardware/chipset level), then I'll be getting flash happy again :p

You will need to replace a LOT more files from a phone outside of the S/V/U.....ik because I ported OV roms to the OM.....

I'm aware of this, I like to humor the idea of a patch per phone/baseband to work on the V.
It sounds like a nice experiment. I'm pretty sure this wont get much further than just an idea, but I'd at least like to give it a shot sometime. :p

These are the files you would have to replace, this is a list for gingerbread roms, it may be the same list for froyo roms, this list wont work on ics roms. http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?t=515246 do not use the zip, find your favorite gingerbread/cm7/froyo rom and grab the files from it.
