Root Help a dummy

OK. I got Z4 root. Got it opened. SU icon showed. Did Bootstrapper. All went well. I d/l Liberty and couldn't open it "no app to open this". I re-booted and now SU icon is gone and so is Bootstrapper but Z4 is there.
Well, make that SU and Bootstrap is gone in LP but shows in Go Launcher.

Huh?
Now some of my icons on my home pages have names under them and some don't(normally I have it set NOT to have names showing.)

How do I get Liberty going?

How new are you? Are you familiar with how to flash a rom? Have you followed the directions on the d/l page for Liberty? Are you sure that you are rooted to begin with?
 
Let's start from scratch:

1) Delete and reinstall z4root. After you install it, reboot before you press the option to root. Hopefully you are running z4root 1.3.0, which is the latest build. It gives you the option for temporary root and permanent, choose the later. After you have rebooted hit permanent root and wait for it. It should reboot on its own eventually. Wait for it. It may take awhile. Let us know when you have accomplished this.
 
Pretty sure Z4 set. Got SU icon and was able to load Bootstrapper and do a back up.
Also if i click on Z4 i get notification for SU and then it says Re-root/ Un-root. I did neither of those and got back out of it.

I see the directions on Liberty for doing the flash(assuming that is what that is). Assuming I follow those unless you have other suggestions.

follow the directions. If you get into any trouble, let us know. Keep asking questions. Being a newbie does suck, but understand, we're your friends and will help you out. No need to feel alone in this.

OK. Got to step: find and select Liberty X/2-X.X.zip

It is not there. Yes I went down thru complete list past where they cut off at the bottom of list.

Now what to do/ choose? Or just back out of it?
 
Ahh shit!. Mistakenly hit the camera button on re-boot or something. I now have a new, stock phone :)...complete with the damned screen lock :(

Great. Fortunately all my contacts are there.

Sorry, I wasn't watching. I'm at work. Re-install z4 and root again and go through the motions. :)
 
Next time look in the folder marked "downloads" it will be there for ya.

Yep, get drocap2 from the market / AppBrain, it's free and then you can take screenshots of your phone to boast and brag like the rest of us :), it's free and if you have root it will ask you for superuser access.
 
Yup.
Need help with the dialer. My contacts are my e-mail contacts and not my phone number contacts. How do I get them back?
Did this happen to everyone else?
