Accessories Help Buying a Car Mount

I really like this Kensington one because it does both portrait and landscape (and I am not THAT cheap to spend $12 on something I would use almost everyday) - however, I am looking for one that can also fit different phones like both my BB Bold, Curve 3G, and EVO 4G.

Is there something similar but not with clips that only seem to work for EVO/Ipod like shapes/sizes?

This one doesn't come close to the volume rocker.

I love it and use it daily. It won't hold an Evo with the Sprint silicone case though.

FYI - 6 months of use and the Kensington mount is as good as the day it was "installed" with daily use.

OK, so I did a search:

Amazon.com: Kensington K39217US Universal Windshield/Vent Car Mount for Smartphones (Black): Cell Phones & Accessories

this may work better for us because of the multiple devices I own/use.

If Kensington is a good durable brand, I would be willing to pay $20 for a mount.

LOL, my DW just commented on the thread above ... "geesh, some people are just beyond 'cheap'! :D "

Oh, here is another possibility for us:

this is the exact mount I purchased..and it rocks. I think it was $2 plus shipping

the 1st one you posted tends to vibrate quite a bit. the second, if it is the one i think it is, is too small
Why would that 2nd one be too small?
"Adjustable side arms expand from 2 in. to 3.25 in ..." . The EVO is only about 2.75 inches wide.

The one you posted", would the arms cover the charging hole/port on a Blackberry 9650 Bold and push on the volume buttons?

I am looking or a mount that holds the EVO, BB Bold/Tour, and Curve 3G. And, charging while in the mount is a must.

It doesn't cover anything on my evo..and the arms are move able but I do not own a bold to test.

That one that looks too small...it looks too small lol...I have one that I swear looks just like that and it isn't wide enough even though the package said it was.

if i can find a blackberry to test fit I will

This goes to show you how 'dumb' the manufacturers of these mounts are. I have yet see one yet (and I know there are zillions out there, and I have likely only touched the surface) which includes a diagram with basic details on the dimensions of the device. This way, I can easily check myself with my handy ruler to see if a device will cover any of my pda/phone's buttons, ports, etc.

oh trust me I know what you mean...I bought 5 mounts before finally finding one that would work

Hey guys. I'm in the struggle of finding the perfect mount for my Evo. Couple of questions; do most mounts posted in here and other threads hold an Evo with an extended battery well? Another thing I want to comment on is suction. I have a fear of suction because my brother had one for his iPhone, and it kept falling down after a couple of months. I don't want that to happen to my Evo :( Granted he bought it off ebay for really cheap.

Let me know! Thanks in advance.

The exact reason why I tell people to go proclip. Their adjustable holder and dash mount is less than $70, custom for your particular vehicle and the adjustable is hands down the best thing going and will look better than any other adjustable out there since it is a set it and forget it type that looks just like a fixed holder.

I have the ProClip in my Acura RDX for my Evo. A little pricy, but well worth it. Excellent custom fit, like it came from the factory with it.
