Root help finding this boot animation-splash

when the rom for miui MIUI_3.4.29_SHOOTER_V5. You get the above picture for jellybean 4.1.1. I've have google for the boot animation or splash screen (whatever correct lingo is), I want to put on my htc evo 4g, when boots up. The miui rom is okay, but don't care for unable to move icons off the main screen and mms still doesn't work for me. Going back to Dirty Unicorns for now. I was searching for rom that had the mms fix already done for me. I've flashed since this morning, and can't get to working mms rom. Dirty Unicorns is my favorite daily, just have to live without the mms working. Getting off topic. If anyone knows of boot animation zip with above jellybean photo. I've found a few on xda, but not the one above. So can flash the PG86IMG with this image.

Its on the latest MIUI ROM vs 3.7.12. When you reboot your phone, this shows first.
Then goes into miui logo, so guess that's a boot animation. Like the function of the rom, just can't move icons off home screen and mms still doesn't work. Like Dirty Unicorns.

It's a little bigger.
Must have s off to flash
Rename pg86img.zip
Put on the root of sd
Reboot to.bootloader and flash

mine says same thing....parsing....I have tried pg86imp.zip and won't even say parsing...Then leave the .zip off and then get the parsing message....help..any advice.

Make sure you name it exactly PG86IMG.zip

All caps on the filename. And make sure that .zip is just the file extension and you didn't end up with PG86IMG.zip.zip

Yep, been flashing dirty unicorn roms, pac, and now miui. Says s-off on the bootloader also. I'll try again, just removing "jelly". Also following Brian706 tips. ]

help brian706: I'm on the miui v5 rom. I was trying to flash this pg86img file with new splash screen or boot animation. I'm not sure the correct terminology for it. Where you put it on your sd card. I did the update volume up button and hit power button. Now its stuck on MIUI logo. When I hold volume down button and power button, it just wants to run update again. It won't let me go back to where can get into recovery, so can remove file off sd card and wipe cache.

Any way to get into recovery another way. I am trying the adb sdk tools software, but just says device not found error. Just want to get into recovery so can reflash the rom or restore a backup. I'm using 4ext recovery. Any ideas.....???

I'm on my phone right now so I'm not sure what happened. I'll try to check t file later.

To get into recovery, you have to remove the PG86IMG.zip from the SD card. It's presence will always prevent you from accessing recovery in an emergency. Even if it had been successful, you'd want to remove or rename the file right away after booting back up.

Do you have a micro SD adapter and card reader? Or a spare device you can use? You gotta get rid of it to access recovery!

nope, on the card reader and/or device at the moment. I never got chance to boot up and then would have removed pg86img from sd-card. It showed the new splash screen and stuck on the miui logo screen.

Guess this is what they call "bricked" evo, huh Phone should work if buy a new sd card from local electronics store...right???

Okay... Try this.

Pull sd card out. Reboot into bootloader. Then remove the back cover, plug the phone in, remove battery, then insert sd card. Return battery and then back cover. Then select recovery. See if that will work.

But yes, a spare sd would work as well.

It worked to get me into recovery, with that procedure. Now to get rid of this file and hope phone will boot up. Cross my fingers and toes.

Well now that you're in recovery, can't you wipe and restore a backup or re-flash your rom?

Also a handy tool to keep on your SD card is aroma file manager. Look that up when you have a chance

The PG86IMG.zip will get you stuck on the bootloader, but once you get to recovery, you should be able to use it like normal afaik, even with the file on your SD card.

Yep, just reflashed rom. After wiped it all from factory reset to all but sd card. Never happened on DU roms, just could change splash or boot anytime. Wonder if its conflict with the MIUI rom. Don't know enough myself to make that conclusion.

Yeah, I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. I don't think a splash screen is affected by a rom... The only thought I had was that your phone didn't like the size as Adam said it was larger. But he said he tested and it worked on his device, so I don't know...

Leavenworth.....small town with a Bavarian theme. Famous for Christmas lightning when first created, but Octoberfest is bigger event. Beer sales this year was just over $3 million for the town. But I grew up in the Lynnwood-Everett area in my childhood. Few years in the Tacoma-Lakewood area.

That's strange that it put you in a boot loop.

When I said it was bigger, I meant I blew the image up a bit cause I thought it looked better.
The resolution is correct for our phone, 540 x 960

Ya, I wonder if have defective phone. My volume down button was broke, so could get into bootloader with volume down/power combo. The replacement phone, since still under warranty has sprint logo on. It comes up as HTC EVO 3d on about phone.

When I flash latest Dirty Unicorns, got phone just on nightstand and it just reboots on its own...over and over. But if I go back to when Mazda was using Evervolv kernel it works 24/7. No issues. Same with this MIUI rom, no issues. My tech knowledge is under the newb catergory. The phone or maybe the SD card is bad. I even wiped the whole phone and reformatted the sd card. Started over with stock rom. Another weird one, phone is plugged in to charger, my battery will be at like 30% and reboot the phone and battery is....wham at 99%...fully charged. Thought would return\exchange again, but guess Virgin no longer has the htc evo v anymore.

Aroma File Manager topic: For sure not a deal breaker by asking this. But would this help me avoid this freezing up on flashing that pg86img file?? Nervous now to change the splash screen after last nights hell. I don't find on the play store a download. Someone like xda developers shows a thread, guessing that would be good source.

Yep. You'd get it from Xda. It's not an app in the normal sense. It's a file manager that you can use in recovery. So for example, last night when you used the trick to access recovery by pulling the SD card, if you had aroma file manager stored on the card you could flash it in recovery. It's just a temporary thing.

You flash it In recovery and it launches a touch screen file manager which you could then delete the file with. Then you simply exit and it sends you back to recovery.

It won't help you with the flashing problems but can help you recover!

Got a question regarding 4ext recovery. I got recovery program off the s-off tutorial. When I boot into recovery it tells me its not configured yet. I've been thru the 4ext tools and options, but don't see where I configure it. Read about the 4ext updater, but not sure how I flash or install it. If that's what need to do.

Good question. The proper way to set it up is to go to http://4ext.net/ and download the free app. Install the app and choose online|install.

From there it will verify the device then ask if you are s-on. Answer appropriately. Then choose a recovery version (usually the most recent) and it will flash the recovery for you and should be set up.

So back to Aroma File Manager...Do I leave zip on my sd card or is the Aroma program installed recovery now and I can remove zip from my sd card. Also I used ES File explorer for .apk files, like for camera app and smart keyboard pro .apk. Will this Aroma do these things also?? Install them the same for me.
