Root HELP!! Had to factory reset my rooted HTC Evo

Welcome rshapron!
Well, all you did was clear your data/apps/contacts etc. You didn't lose root with just a factory reset.
Since you are in your bootloader screen, can you post back here what is written?
You can also reboot from that screen.
Use your volume up/down buttons to navigate the choices and use the power button to select the highlighted choice.
So, highlight fastboot and select it.
You should see and option to reboot.:)
 
in the bootloader i can go into recovery, clear sotrage, simlock, or hboot usb. i can get into the recovery and i was fiddling around in there with some stuff i red but i couldnt get anything to work. Right now when u boot the phone it doesnt boot up just teh white screen that says htc evo 4g
 
o.k....2 things we need to know before proceeding...what your bootloader screen says and what the name of the recovery you have. It will say on the screen of the recovery somewhere what it is...perhaps clockworkmod, or Amon Ra something etc.

So, if you can provide those we can go from there:)

o.k..but there is alot more information on that screen that will help us help you, such as radio, hboot version, locked or unlocked, s-on or s-off..and that is what we need to know :)

Also what version of recovery you have. You said you can get into recovery, which is a separate, mini os on the phone. Just look for some name on that recovery screen :)
 
o.k...go to my post 16 and follow the instructions "Time to flash a Rom"
Instead of optional "superwipe" make that mandatory in your case.
Also add to step 5, wipe data, system, boot. Print those instructions if needed and add what I suggested for step 5.
I gotta go now, but I will be back in about an hour and a half.

wow that is an old hboot!!!!i have not seen that in a while.

here is some reading i would recommend for you:

1. http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html skip the root process and read the after root section. there is tons of info there that you should know.

It worked out great! But yes my store did disappear lol. I hope thats not a thousand steps to get back! thank you so much for all your help!

THANK YOU! il read up on these. I had setcpu on m rooted evo 3d so i already have that installed on this 4g now! one thing i do know about lol

Nah, go to ES File Explorer and click on it. It will say there is an update. Click on that message to update and it will bring you to the PlayStore.
After the update, your Play Store should re-appear:)

o.k..if it didn't ask you to update, go into ES File explorere again, hit menu, then settings and scroll down to the bottom to "update settings"
Click on that, then the "check now" option.
If it says that you have the latest version, then we need to get PlayStore another way.

Either go to this link with your phone or computer:

gglply3.9.16.apk

If you go to it on your phone, download it and it will appear in your downloads folder. It is the PlayStore apk. Click on it to install.

If you go to it with your computer, download it, then transfer it to your sd card. Open your File Browser to find it and then click on it to install. :)
 
no a lot of these free download sites have all sorts of advertisements. you will want the one in the middle the gglply3.9.16.apk file. the button to push is the green button.
 
ok! finally got it, its a blank file with no icon but i put it on the sd and go to zip in in bootloader but cant find the file...
 
i tried the phone but i could not get hte specific download site, i got it on my comp, i put the bootloader is sub mode or w.e its called, loaded the file, then go to zip it and i cant find the file
 
It's an apk file (application file).
If its on your sd card now, just open your ES File Explorer, find the apk file, and click on it.
No need to be in bootloader or recovery or anything.:)
