Root Help, I softbricked phone while attempting to root

I take it this is what I am to do:

SD Card Fix

Press & hold vol down and power on the phone
Select fastboot by pressing the power button

ADB commands

fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot reboot

That should fix your SD card not being detected.

I am not familiar with the ADB commands. Is this something I do on the phone, or from the PC?

this is done on your phone.

1.so go here:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...-rooting-gingerbread-2-3-5-dummies-guide.html

2.go to the HTCdev method and download the first three files listed.

3.on your desktop create a folder called android(or whatever you want to call it)

4.move the three files to the folder

5.then follow directions for the sd card fix

Okay, maybe this will help. There is an app that came with this new ROM called ES File Explorer. It is similar to a file explorer I had before. All apps and data on the SD Card is visible using it to examine contents.

Still, the apps on the card are not accessible for use or through the phone's app manager.

ok this is different then. if es can see the card then all is good.

you probably moved you apps to the sd card via settings>apps>move apps to card. if so then this is apps2sd which was first introduced during the froyo days. now this unfortunately only moves part of the app to the card. the rest still stays on the phone. so when you wiped the phone your apps are now gone as the majority of the app that was on the phone is gone. and now you only have part of the app on your card. those will not work as they are not the whole app.

now the smart devs that we have found a way to move the app to the sd card entirely, this is called a2sd. and majority of roms have either a2sd built in or it has support for it.

the sd card fix will not work for what you just described.

You mean to tell me that all the apps that were on my card will have to be downloaded again?

If so, I'll get over it. Bottom line, the phone works, and it is apparently properly rooted with all privileges that implies.

I'm certainly better off than I was before you guys helped me out.

yes. my guess is that the ruu you ran wiped your phone. so when you moved the apps to the card, after the wipe the apps on your phone got wiped as well. so yes you have to start over. you may want to look into partitioning your card. the guide i linked you to has a section that goes into partitioning and how to do it.
