Root Help! Is my phone completely bricked?

The Captain gave some instructions on how to clear things when dealing with that rom.

Did you see his post?
Do you have... or know where to find this?

Oops, my PC didn't load properly... I didn't see your posts. :)

I don't remember, sorry, you'll want to ask him.

But try my fastboot command in the post above this one anyway.

Could give us some clues.
Result:

C:\sdk-tools\sdk-tools>fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-jewel.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 1.130s]
booting...
OKAY [ 0.003s]
finished. total time: 1.139s

C:\sdk-tools\sdk-tools>

Same thing happen ... phone reboots - white htc screen - blue screen - back to white htc logo screen.

That strongly suggests that either your ram is completely hosed - or you got a bad download of your recovery file - or it got corrupted later.

What that command does - boots your recovery image from the PC storage into the phone ram.

Try to download it again.

That sucks...

Download the ...what? The recovery file?

So, that's a rap. :(

Thanks for your time.

Yes, download it again from the TWRP site to your pc.

And I just realized - all this could be the result of the USB cable going bad. Stranger things have happened.

Bad /corrupted download and bad cable - high probability.

Bad ram - low probability.

Okay... :)

I will buy a usb cable tomorrow. Re-download and try again.

If it doesn't work... then i guess it is what it is. There's always the possibility that this can happen again when i root my next device.

Luckily for me ... I still have my Evo 4G. ;)

I will also try an earlier Twrp recovery...

Chin up.

Stuff happens while playing under the hood.

Breakage happens but it's rare.

I'll be surprised if it turns out to be not fixable.

I know how you feel - we've all been there.

First thing I need to confirm is whether you're S-OFF. If so, then you should VipeRUU so you have a clean slate to start with. At this point, that's the first thing you should do.

Once that's done, let's confirm you have a working device, and then we can get TWRP back on it and get a custom ROM set up for you again.

Did you happen to use the Superwipe zip from yankees2450's thread?

I am s-off.
Cap, is that the same link i post? [Viperuu] If not, could you post link. ;)

Nope! haven't used Superwipe in a long while.

Since I'm on vacation ... I am thinking about rooting this bad boy.

I'm doing the process one step at a time. By the way, I was surprised to know that my actions didn't really bricked my phone.

If I need help, I will make sure to give you (EM or Cap) guys a shout. ;)

sorry i have not been more helpful here(been way to busy lately), but i figured between em and the captain, you were in good hands.

it just goes to show you how hard it really is to brick a phone;)

and this also proves why there should never be a term for "soft brick"....a brick is a brick.

glad everything works now.
