Root [Help] Kernel Testers

What features does it include, such as governors and does it have GPU over clock?
... oh and is it good for kitkat?

all the govs from the kitkat builds
sio and cfq schedulers
no gpu oc
wifi fixes
should patch for auto root shell

wont work on kitkat builds...yet

Looks like ur zip has issues lol im assuming newest date is the good stuff

So far I have tried a 16 gb flash drive that has a kali Linux image written to it so I think it is ext2 or ext4. Also tried a external 320 gb 2.5 hard drive formatted to fat32. None of them power up through my otg cable and stick mount, especially file Explorer and otg helper don't see anything. I don't think that even if the file systems I am using would be the problem as I don't see them powering on.

Ur kernel defiantly still needs work... First issue is default gov is performance... Second freqs dont stick... 3rd its very jittery...

The first boot I got to say was scary but I was ready for it. Cpu temp 52 c. I used android tuner and changed it immediately to 1.35 with intellidemand. After a reboot I have also noticed that the frequency's are not sticking. Not sure what is meant by jittery but it seems to be running smoothly for me. Will probably just place a widget to my android tuner profile to make reboots go back to my settings. I am not a dev and i get lost in the logat's so maybe that's where the jitter is shown? Temp is now down to 38c after 16 min up-time and 5 minutes of sleep which is nothing to really benchmark from but way better then 52c. I like being able to go down to 168 mhz I believe it is in spock's kernel though. Just thought i would give back some really early feedback for this beta kernel. I look very much forward to the future work on it.

Currently uptime 1hr0min sleep 22min temp 41c
This is using intellidemand with 1.8 max 384 min with core 2 online. No reboots.

I may be able to explain some of the "lag." I finally wrapped my head around how the frequencies are getting set, and rbheromax and I have been setting them incorrectly. In the frequency table there's a PLL specifier and a hex value. The hex value is a multiplier, and the PLL is the base frequency. HFPLL 2 is 13500Hz and HFPLL 1 is 27000Hz. To calculate the frequency you'll need to convert the hex multiplier to decimal. For example, the 1188000Hz clock is set by HFPLL1*0x2C, or 27000*44. So the max clock in AWEstruck is really 1620000 and the max clock in this kernel is really 1728000.

Here's an accurate table we can use to correct our values https://github.com/Grarak/grakernel-msm8930/blob/grakernel/arch/arm/mach-msm/acpuclock-8930ab.c

Can u please post the latest kernel zip again. I formatted my internal storage and lost it cuz I downloaded it when I was on carbon??. Thank you

Was wondering if you have gotten otg USB power working yet. Really looking forward to it and considering buying a 64 gb micro sdhc.

disregard this post. it is wrong...

Hey rbheromax and phenom...
I have recently come upon an HTC Incredible and have to ask...have you looked into THIS phone's development to procure any help as it too has the same CPU. They have had much success in development including working camera and apparently a very recent stable/fully functioning CM11 port

@dragonhart6505 which version of the DInc?

...fireball. i may be mistaken about the SAME cpu...it has a Snapdragon S4 MSM8960...we have that or 8930? i cant remember. the only difference is the GPU is Adreno 225, whereas we have the 305 so there may need some working around that

edit: disregard this entirely. i was way off. we have the 8630, not 89xx. my mistake

but if they can do it for a 2 year old phone with specs from the same family...why cant we, right?

We have the 8930 which is the same as the 8960 but with a lower clock.

I didn't say that but I don't think anything from that device is going to help with the camera

i was just pointing out that it had been done on their unofficial alpha build. i didnt think it would ACTUALLY help fix our camera.

speaking of our camera...what can be done to improve the framerate while using video on the rear camera? the fps is TERRIBLY low in lit areas, while a dark scene runs perfectly fine. its a pure shame when the front facing camera is 10x better than the rear on such an awesome device.
