Root Help please! Service/Rom issue

I just flashed a Jelly Bean rom, and my service isn't working. This happens sometimes after flashing a new rom, and since normally I use Sense roms I usually just did the ##25327# epst to reset, which takes care of the problem.

However, since I'm using a Jelly Bean rom, there is no EPST. So I'm not sure how to get my service working again...Does anyone know of a way to get EPST on Android 4.2, or how to reset my service or something similar? Thanks

EDIT - This problem has been solved, but now I have no Data on the JB rom! Any help please?

I've been having this issue with mobile data ever since the service update they did to track our data usage... whether i'm on sense or jelly bean I just have no data no matter what I try...

You can't use those dialer commands in that rom. Make a nandroid backup of your current rom. Flash any sense based rom, do your updates, then restore your nandroid backup.

i assume you're on the latest radio from the "fix everything" thread?

if not, get there.

also...maybe try a different PRL...not sure tho

anyone have any ideas? I'm running AlienROM, i think that's the name, if that helps.

You can't do it on that rom. Make a backup, flash a sense based rom. Use your codes, then restore back to your current rom.

I think the ## codes do not change from a rom flash. You should be able to change things in there and return to another rom while keeping those settings in tact.

I don't really mess around with that, but just from what I've seen around the forums, it sounds like that's what most people do.
I mean, you can't lose anything trying it. Except maybe 10-20 minutes of time depending on how long your nandroid takes.

The method using the backup didn't work, thanks though.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Well sorry. Thanks for posting results. Maybe I'm thinking of flashing to a sense rom to update profile and prl. Sorry I've never had to really deal with this issue.

If you have a little extra time you might try flashing back to sense and updating profile and prl.

Did you ever take the ota to get on the newest firmware?

My data wasn't out for 2 days last month, and just last week it was out for like 3 days. Now it goes in between 1x and 3g often. You just have to wait it out, and keep rebooting your phone.

I don't think you guys quite understand lol. It has nothing to do with issues with Virgin Mobile. It's my phone.

I just recently got a new number and a new plan with Virgin Mobile. When I flash a Jelly Bean rom, for some reason my phone reverts back to the old phone number, hence why I don't have service. It does that when I flash a sense rom as well, but once I do the EPST reset it's fine.

However, one cannot access EPST on an AOSP rom so I'm trying to figure out how to get my service reset on an AOSP or AOKP rom.

If you use ##DATA# and edit your user name in the menu to your new number it'll stick between rom flashes. :p

I'm curious about the ##DATA# trick. My buddy has one of these devices and he changed his number yesterday becuz of a crazy ex-girlfriend. I've currently got him on the CM10.1 Rom but now his device is pretty much useless for basic functions as he's got no data and what not.

I did notice his number in <Settings <About <Status is his old number but if he makes calls it shows up as his new number.

Anyway, I tried doing ##DATA# while on CM10.1 but it doesn't do anything. I'm assuming it should bring up a hidden menu of some sort so I could edit the settings as you mentioned above. Do I need to flash a Sense based ROM and then try it? Or am I missing something?

Its not the ROM, its Virgin. Ive been having service issues the past 2 days using my regular roms I always use

Well, that ##DATA# trick would only work on stock sense roms with EPST (just flash harmonia) then you should be able to do it. Those dialer codes weren't supposed to work on cm. I haven't tried but that's what it does.

Thanks a bunch, that worked! I can call and text now, the only issue is Data. I can't seem to get the data working. I tried a battery pull, to no avail. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions about my data, anyone?

I posted another thread just about the data, because I didn't want this one to get confusing, but it was closed for "already posting the same question in the ROM thread" even though that is untrue.

So does anyone have any suggestions to get my data working on this rom?

S'ok, not a big deal. :D

I just want my phone to work :(
Have you tried calling VM customer service yet? I didn't see that mentioned in this thread. It really sounds like a provisioning problem to me and if you changed numbers on your phone they may have something messed up on their end.

Also, it may be worth flashing a stock or "stockish" ROM like Harmonia to determine if it is actually a ROM problem or not.

I changed my number like 3 weeks ago, though. It works fine on Sense roms. I just switched back to a Sense rom, reset EPST, and then flashed back and again no data, just texting and calling. I've used plenty of AOSP and AOKP roms before with no data issues, and no one else is reporting the same problem in the ROM thread.

I can't really call Virgin Mobile about it because besides the fact that it's not an issue on their end, I can't really tell them I rooted my phone and switched to a Jelly Bean ROM and want them to fix my data lol

Have you seen this thread? I'm not sure it applies to you since you can get service on an Sense ROM but there might be something there that can help.

Also, have you tried doing a profile and PRL update while you are on a Sense ROM before going back to an AOSP based ROM?
