Root Help: Rooting Process

Hi, my name is Anthony and I am new to the forums. I am not new to rooting process, as I have been successful one time before. However, I have been confused when reading these "how to root posts". All I really want to do is Wi-Fi tether, I was wondering if anyone is human enough to help me. Perhaps I can give you my gmail, or something like that. Please, thanks? Yolo

Welcome anthony!
We can help you here:)
Can you tell us a little more about your phone? Such as hboot version etc.
What would really help is this:
1--pull battery and wait about 10 seconds or so...while its out, take note of your sd card size...
2--put battery back in.
3--While holding the volume down button, push/hold the power button
4--the next screen that comes up is your bootloader screen
5--post back here EVERYTHING it says on that screen.
That will give us good info to guide you in your quest to root for wifi tether:)

Nice!!! Unlocked! You are almost there...
Go to this guide but skip the dev method (obviously!) but click on "show" of the HTCDEV method and scroll down to STEP 2
After step 2, do step 3.:D

Edit: holy crap, I forgot to post the guide!! Sorry..here ya go

oh my yes, you have a plethora of different roms, kernels to flash.:D
You are better suited to fix your issues when rooted.:D
You can tweak the phone for superior battery life:D
You can partition sd card for more internal memory.:D
You can, You can, You can...and on it goes....so....:D

Haha well thanks. May I ask, how do I install a rom. Do I have to backup the nandroid again? I mean do I have to do this process again

"1.first you need the vr superwipe (this is not a rom. this is a file that wipes your sytem partitions and also wipes all the temp files as well:ZZZVR_SUPERWIPE.zip. download it and put it on your card. (optional)*
2.download the rom (i recommend MikG v3.11 [3/9/2012]) of your choice and transfer it to your card.
3.go into recovery
4.make a nandroid backup
5.select wipe from the main menu and wipe dalvik cache, cache, and data
6.select flash zip from sdcard
7.find the superwipe file and select it.(optional)
8.find your rom and select it.
9.reboot."

I'm asking that because I did the thing where I decided to stay on stock. Do I have to do that process again?

If you made a nandroid on the stock, rooted rom already, then no, you do not need to make another backup.
To add to that list, imo, on step 5, I wipe all EXCEPT SD CARD 3 times. I personally do not use the superwipe .zip. but it wont hurt at all.
After you flash the rom and set it up to your liking, make a backup and transfer at least 1 backup to computer. I keep 2 backups on my sd card...one of my current rom, and one sense rom such as MikG.
If you already have the superwipe.zip on the sd card, you do not have to download that again.

But yes, the instructions you posted are correct to flash a rom sir!!:D

Just to throw my input in, when your ready to flash, just a simple wipe of cache, dalvik cache along with fr is needed, unless your flashing an updated rom of what your currently running :)

As far as nandroid backups go, it's a most definate before you flash any rom, kernel or doing anything within the system. That way something goes wrong, you can resort to the nandroid as if nothing ever happened.

just remember nandroid backups are your friend. they are important because if anything should happen you will always have a backup to go back to. i always suggest that you make a nandroid backup any time you change something on your phone, until you get more experienced.

is it necessary to do one at the point you are at? not really. however, i think it is a good habit to start. but that is up to you.
