Welcome to AF!!
As andy said, don't accept any update OTA from HTC on a rooted phone.
That being said, is your phone still usable?
Sprint's policy toward rooted phones is more lenient and you need not worry about being rooted and taking it in for warranty issues.....
They will do what is necessary to fix your phone, or they will swap it out for a refurbished unit.

I went thru the steps to unroot my phone, but I don't know if I was successful or not. Phone is usable; I've tried multiple things to do a stock recovery, flash the rom, but I keep getting the same error.

I tried using RUU but get error 155...I don't know much about andriod phones so I'm at a loss. Phone keeps shutting off randomly, had a friend who is a Sprint tech look at it (off record lol) and he tried to fix it, but couldn't.

don't know what else to do?!

I'll post a ruu for you in a minute to try....stand by a bit...:)

Edit: your phone shutting off randomly...is that the original issue or did it occur after the failed attempt at the ruu install.
And what steps have you taken so far to unroot?
How did you root in the first place? that will decide the steps for unrooting....

I honestly don't remember what I did, I've tried so many different things! I really just want to get it back to stock ROM, I plan on getting rid of it. It starting shutting down randomly before I tried to unroot.

This is the last RUU I tried, RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.67.651.3_Radio_2.15.00.12.19_NV_2.33_release_234563_signed

Thanks!

do you remember how you rooted intially? was it unrevoked? if so then unrooting is a two step process but you will need a recovery for this which unroftunately you do not have since you flashed a ruu. now you have only the stock recovery which will not work.

so first step is to get recovery. do you know how to do this? if not go here :http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html and skip down to the switching recoveries section. it has instructions on how to get a custom recovery installed.

next step is to flash unrevoked s-on tool.
1.dowload this and move it to the sd card:http://downloads.unrevoked.com/forever/current/unrevoked-forever-son.zip
2.go to recovery and select install from sd card.
3.locate the s-on tool and select it.

last step is to run the ruu you ran earlier and you should be unrooted.

Yes, I used unrevoked to root. Just to make sure, I followed the instructions to get recovery; however, I did not get prompted to update and as it was running thru I saw the file name followed by No Image! - so I don't know if it did something or if I still have a problem?

the "no image or wrong image" message is normal. it means that it did not find the PC36IMG file that it is programmed to look for.

are you sure you named it correctly? it needs to be exact. does your computer hides extension? when you download the PC36IMG file do you see the .zip at the end of the file? if not then your computer hides extensions so make sure you are not adding an extra .zip to the name as the phone will see the file as PC36IMG.zip.zip which will not work.

also do you have it on the root of the sd card? that means not in any folder. it is just on the sd card.

I have a 8 GB SD Card; I just tried it again and it said No Image or Wrong Image, then it says Checking PC36IM.zip and goes away...no prompt.

LOL! Okay, but still getting error messages when I try to install the update - see initial post. I need to get back to stock ROM.

ok so check your sd card and your phone's internal storage. do you have enough space for the ota? and just so you know there is no need to update as you are on stock as it is.

According to the Sprint Tech I'm not on stock ROM and said the phone was previously rooted and that it would void the warranty. If I'm on stock ROM and unrooted, why am I having problems installing the update?

if you ran the RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.67.651.3_Radio_2.15 .00.12.19_NV_2.33_release_234563_signed then that is stock. it is just not the most recent one.

One more thing, is it supposed to say LOCKED (00W) highlighted across the top? Just want to make sure before I take it back into Sprint.
