Hey all,
So I just got an EVO now that the price dropped. Rooted it right out of the box with Revolutionary. Downloaded the recommended apps including Titanium Backup Pro, Lookout Premium, SetCPU, and Wireless Tether.
I'm running the latest Amon_RA ROM and have froze a bunch of bloatware with Titanium Backup. I never used the phone in it's stock state, so I don't really have a "control" group to compare to, but even with all these mods, my EVO didn't make it through a full day yesterday and I wasn't doing anything usage intensive that I normally don't do. I start my day at 6:30am and the phone made it to about 6:30pm...12 hours.
My understanding of rooting is to be able to tweak the phone to last longer and perform better. 12 hours of battery life isn't great in my opinion. I didn't even make any phone calls yesterday.
Anyways, I downloaded the latest market version of SetCPU yesterday, and set the min to 245,000 and the max to 499,000 (I've also tried having the max at 245,000 but it doesn't seem to make a difference). My question is, as I'm watching the processor speed jump around, it still jumps up to 998mhz when an app like lookout kicks on. Is SetCPU just not working? Anything special I need to do? I've got it set to "on demand" with the above settings that I mentioned. I did the "unlock perfloc" thing and it said it's already disabled, which I'm assuming the custom ROM already took care of.
Any thoughts or suggestions on SetCPU, or general battery saving apps or techniques?
I also noticed that when I go into the list of "running" apps, there seems to be alot of stuff running in the background. Is there an app to kill the unnecessary stuff?
Sorry for the noob questions, this is my first Android device and first time rooting.
